One thing in particular I wanted to write here is that I get the sense there is almost zero accountability in US politics. Both of these candidates have made huge, bold claims (lies) about what they're going to achieve in the next 4 years and I am certain that whoever wins they won't achieve barely fuck all of what they claimed they would. I have seen this be a common thing in most democracies too, not just the USA, that is for certain.

I have very little faith that Trump or Harris would deliver on most of the things they promised and that whatever song & dance went on during campaigning for the past few months was literally nothing but blowing the wind up the skirt of the population to try and get them to vote a particular way.

Whatever happens after the actual handover I am certain is going to be erratic and almost entirely unpredictable (especially with Trump since he seems to be more proactive than reactive, but that still doesn't mean he is going to meaningfully do anything about the issues at hand).

Given the current issues with inflation and spending, I very much doubt that Trump is going to be able to rein in spending in a meaningful way and change things that much.

Indeed. Trump's first term (even before 2020) had a huge growth of the national debt because while he cut taxes, he failed to rein in spending. And sadly with the House margin being razor thin (and lacking at least one MAGA guy who lost in PA), we aren't likely to see cuts to all the inane projects like dance classes for transgendered Peruvians. Even that 100 billion+ spent yearly on the Ukraine is likely to be diverted to some other equally stupid project.
