So? I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion here, but I think that people should have their rights more or less restored after they have served their sentence. If they're a convicted pedophile then, yeah, they should not be allowed to live near schools and should be monitored. If they're a convicted murderer then, yeah, the government should restrict their access to firearms. However, there are a lot of ex-cons who get out and get their shit together. The ones who don't end up back in jail (rights taken away) or dead (no longer an issue).

Convicted pedophiles aside, I think restoration of rights should be immediately after prison, not after parole in some states (which they use absurdly long parole terms as a tool to restrict your rights).
If a person is too dangerous to own a gun he shouldn't be allowed to vote or be out in public.
They also need to stop with this several decade on death row bullshit and "muh death penalty is for capital crimes only" and list an appropriate set of execution methods which would be constitutional (firing squad is my favorite).
