Edit: I originally made this thread hyper-specific to cherry blossom, but changed it to include all flowers since I love their flavors.

Cherry Blossom/Sakura is a criminally overlooked flavor here in the West. I made this Cherry Blossom Ice Cream that was positively divine.

Anybody have any floral-flavored treats/desserts/snacks they love and recommend? I’m open to recipes and product recs.

Hard to describe—it’s sweet but not overtly so, floral, with undertones of almond and a hint of spice like cardamom. I expected it to taste like a cherry with a bit of floral but the flavor profile is more complex than that. It’s unique, but delicious.

That sounds great, might have to try it sometime, i was delightfully surprised by sea salt ice cream.
The only particularly floral recipe i have tried was Lemon Lavender cupcakes, they are really good, the lavender has a distinct flavor without being over powering mostly due to the sugar and lemon. to be honest i only did them because of my love of lemons and the color purple.

Most floral flavored foods I've had are sweets or baked goods made with rose water. Nougat and Turkish delight being favorites, they pair very well with floral flavor.
I will say that I have limit how much rose-y flavor I like and some sweets producers tend to overuse it but overall its a very unique flavor. You should give it a try if you have access to authentically sourced stuff.

Someone already mentioned lavender, but lavender can be found in herbes de Provence. I've used that herb mix in different French dishes, mostly vegetable ones though. There is elderflowers which make a good syrup for drinks. Tastes divine with sparkling water or any other form of sparkling wine like champagne. I have mixed fresh elderflowers in with salt, chili pepper, and a few other spices to go with mackerel. I've used the flowers of different herbs in my cooking and they seem to work fine. Saffron is part of the flower, so anything with that works amazing.

That's surprising with how great the Netherlands are for growing flowering plants. You're probably the biggest exporter of ornamental flowers, bulbs and seeds on Earth!

Rose sharbat's pretty good too. I've been itching to try my hand at making the syrup for it myself, but my rose bushes haven't been doing too well as of late with insects.

many years ago, i hiked up to a subalpine meadow in a wilderness area and picked a ridiculous number of dandelions to make dandelion wine. it turned out really well, but it's a process. you need to find them somewhere unpolluted, and you need to pick a couple of pounds of flowers, which is quite a bit, by volume. aside from the stems and leaves, you also need to remove as much of the green from beneath the flower as possible, otherwise it imparts a slightly bitter flavor, as dandelions are medicinal plants that contain alkaloids in all parts except for the actual flower.

if you leave some of the green beneath the flower, you'll create more of a health tonic that can be consumed daily.

I like rose tea and cherry blossom seltzer. Last year no one was buying the La Croix seltzer at my local Acme. So I bought case after case until I was so tired of it I couldn't drink another can. Then this year I got one case. On clearance. Did it suddenly get trendy?

You should give it a try if you have access to authentically sourced stuff.

It's getting harder to find for some reason. I don't trust it unless it has arabic on the label.

What's really good is roasting carrots until they're very soft then mashing them with a bit of rose water and coconut oil. Looks weird, tastes amazing.

Lady at the Asian market gave me one to try yesterday... . I don't drink soda so I initially tried to politely refuse but apparently one does not refuse the gift of kind aunties or you insult them.

She insisted with a quiet fury one holds for small children who are unintentionally rude and would not let me leave without taking it.

Frankly, I walked out and tried it in the car and immediately realized I'm a pinnacle dumbass because this soda fuckin slaps and I will never ever refuse an offering from that lady again. IDC if it's pig uterus or fermented shrimp paste. I am forever in her debt now.

I made nettle tea once, it just tasted like iron and cabbage water. Wouldn't recommend.
