This is difficult to think who will come out on top at the convention. I sincerely believe Manchin could come out on top of the ticket, but he may not want to, instead pinning his chances on 2028 as being more realistic, but he would be 80 by then so he's got to make a play if he wants it.

Manchin does not want to be VP, that is a political fate that would rub him the wrong way. The most senior worthless position in government. Would he do it for the good of the country? I doubt it, he has shoveled shit to West Virginians for years and they take it like rape victims as their due.

If Kamala wins the nomination the polling is pretty clear, the DNC should just save their money for Senate and House races instead. Sure, there will the "anyone but Trump vote" that will bring her 97% of the Democratic vote just as Trump can rely on the same "Anyone but Kamala" vote from the Republican base, but the other deciding factor in the election to swing that small group I think tips it to Trump, by about 4%.

Kamala can not win this race.

If I were the DNC and Kamala was the appointed nominee at the convention and that is that, and the decision was made the Presidency was more important than anything else, I'd throw every dollar at Kennedy and highlight his more right leaning views in the hope he can lure 2-3% points from the Republicans and demonize him as anti-left so he draws less left votes. I'd also demand he is allowed to debate, too, in order to raise his profile.

Obviously that is a far shot, but if Kamala wins the nomination, it is the only path that offers a ray of hope - and a far fetched one at that. 2024 for the Democrats I think is a bridge too far.

The arrangement for Kween Kamala would be the same as it was for Lunchpail Joe: they tell her what to do and she’ll do it, no questions asked. The fact the DNC machine is slowly coming around to backing her is a sign that she’s more or less agreed to continue being a meat puppet. Harris may not be as senile as Biden but they expect her to do whatever the real people in power like Antony Blinken tells her to do.

Harris was also the handpicked candidate by the Clintons so this is basically the Clinton machine’s last hurrah before they fade away.

In terms of her chances, I suspect she will run to the right and try to be as milquetoast of a candidate as possible, much like what she was as a Senator in California. They know being a sassy negress is the exact opposite of what people want. She’s also as incompetent as Biden so I expect a lot of people will hit the campaign trail for her.

So for Trump's campaign she effectively doesn't have any weaknesses, which makes her a hard person to campaign against. They are currently trying to run a narrative that she was the "power behind the throne" for Biden and that all Biden did wrong was her doing. It's a shot for sure, but might be a long one.

I agree. Kamala just has to run as the perfect neoliberal candidate. She might even run on a law and order platform. The vote blue no matter who will kvetch but will come around and billionaire donors will start donating again.

I don’t know how Harris will do but if she gets enough people willing to campaign for her and runs on a basic neoliberal platform, plus election fortifications as necessary, she has a decent shot at winning.

Trump supporters forget that anywhere between sixty and eighty million of their supposed fellow country men think trump is going to do a Hitler at any moment and so will vote against trump on that basis alone.

The democrats don’t have to convince the electorate that Kamala is the best thing ever(though they will make the effort), they just have to turn out the anti trump vote enough, and Kamala I think can generate that sort of turnout.
