This is turning into a dead horse beating but I have to take another swing at it with a point. I complained nobody asked him about markers before, and now random Internet doctor tried to but was too gentle, slow, and eventually got off the show too soon to deconstruct the lie properly.
The lie I'm talking about is that "there is no other reason for that
hormone to be in my blood".
This is not true, everyone has
hormone. He just thinks he learned enough about it to base a lie around it, but in fact he read less than what's written in the screencap bellow, and decided to construct an elaborate lie around it. He kept using "the markers" as a definitive diagnostic criteria that proves it.
In PV the count is too low,
as in lower than NORMAL which is what the Doc on the show was trying to explain, he just never got to call him out on the lie that you only have it if you have cancer. Later it became this cancer or that cancer or some cancer .... but he regards it as undisputed proof of SOME cancer or else it wouldn't be in his blood.
So Boogie kept repeating his "no other reason than cancer" mantra, and everyone just let it slip. He must have said this at least 30 times, and I am disappointed nobody took the opportunity to say NO to this specific lie of his, because this lie is at the very base of his broader lie. It's the fucking corner stone of the entire lie. It's the foundation that he didn't feel was shaken during all of it, so he kept relaying on it as a last resort.
Edit to highlight the last two paragraphs about EPO. Even when you have high red blood cells aka polycythemia and low EPO the cancer is STILL less likely than some other shit. This marker is not reliable, period.
