Easiest way I would do it is 2 small cats near the tip of each ear and make the ham look up to one of them

I can't manage to draw the cat in the same style as the hamster. I would even say that the way cats should be depicted should be different from hamsters.

Black outline flatten/blur the colors.
The black outline will help with the cartoon feel.
If your version was a little bigger I would of adapted that! I tried to keep it similar to the original.

These hamsters are perfect for lunch break doodles.
I used an alternate base because I needed my symmetry tool to work, hopefully it's not distracting enough to ruin them.

Back when I was making the Halloween hamsters I was already kinda struggling to come up with designs that would be universally recognisable, on theme and wholesome (most monster-like designs just look like animal abuse). Turns out I just had to look for DIY Kid's Halloween Costumes.
With the TERF ham, it'll be a bit trickier to keep it wholesome - Silent Hill Nurse, for example, would probably turn out looking like either animal abuse, furry weirdness, or just not very spooky.
There's nine stream days in October, so that might be a challenge too, though I'm thinking of just making a matching-set-sort-of-version of the News Hamster costumes from last year (a Cleopatra to go with the Mummy, etc).
To anyone else planning to do this, or something like it - it might be cute to make a seperate gif for the Hamsterf without the pumpkins/news desk (just the character), so the hamsters can be at the same desk together - I didn't think the Hamsterf would actually be used on stream, so I didn't really think it through at the time.
