PS: about cringy writing, anyone noticed how he uses a lot of unnecessarily big words when writing dialogues for his characters? Like, who the fuck says "I'm so ACCUSTOMED" or shit like that
Yea, its a stupid thing amateur writers do, they fail to give characters a unique voice, or make it very trope laden for 'special' characters. Everyone who's normal ends up talking how they wish they could talk in the moment, witty comments and all (Marvelfication of dialog) even if it doesn't actually make sense for them to do so.

The other mega-cringe writing fail he does is spamming ellipses everywhere. The confession/rejection cutscenes are a nightmare to sit through because of this.

Not only Alex doesn't know what "yandere" means, she went all-in into his incorrect interpretation. Ayano is not written as a yandere, and she's voiced even less as a yandere. Compared to all yandere characters from Japanese media, she has nothing in common with them.
But we had this discussions before, no point in rehashing it.
Just a reminder that the whole characteristic of her being a fucking robot who would die of starvation if wooden senpai is gone, all of that came from one of the first 4chan threads. Alex can't handle his own ideas, let alone someone else's.

But anyway, these people carried YanSim
That doesn't sound like something to be proud of.

Hah, writing. Have you checked his blogposts, especially those with apologies? Alex has this juvenile belief that using smart words makes anything he says sound smarter. You know, like one Sonic/Pokémon enthusiast, who he hates to be compared to.

The funniest thing is that the dude is fucking soon-to-become 36. He "works" on this "masterpiece" for 10 years. He had plenty of time to at least become a decent writer, because becoming a better programmer and a decent human being is too hard for him, but lmaooo - it's Alex we're talking about.

Oh yeah, that. I couldn't sit through any of cutscenes with lenghty dialogues, never touched all these cassette tapes he spammed in the game to let us into the "deep lore" of it, I cringed hard when he apparently included a Death Note parody. Like, the dude is stuck at being 16 forever mentally
That doesn't sound like something to be proud of.
It's honestly not, but at least there was something.

That's the only relevance Alex has at the moment.

And no, it's not my account, I've found this video today.

Yeah, he also did that for his progress / lore videos when he used to make them. I guess for all those kids watching it made him sound more professional and like he knows what he's doing.

I can say with 100% certainty he got that habit from writing fanfiction. A lot of delusional fanfic writers want their works to sound more professional and grand by using big boy words, even if they're writing about busty anime boobies. Some of them look up to great authors and think using simple words is for peasants and it doesn't reflect their literary talent. They go out of their way to look for synonyms or more high-brow versions of a word. Alex's old fanfics are exactly like that.

Genuinely, I think the thing that pisses me off the most about Alex and what I think encapsulates him as a person is his mispronunciation of "yandere".

His game has been in development for 10 years now and he still can't pronounce its own name properly. He's been an avid anime consoomer for God only knows how long and he doesn't know how to pronounce a well-known character trope, along with other Japanese terms. Both fans and gremlins have told him he isn't pronouncing "yandere" properly. And he continues to do so anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he's ever addressed this, either. It would be one thing if it was a genuine goof and then he fixed his pronunciation early on. Hell, I'd accept it if he at least admitted "yeah I know it's wrong but I want to say it this way," even though that would be retarded.

The idea he has to know he's saying it wrong and yet refuses to change it is so irritating. It's a minor nitpick and I'm probably MATI but it reveals everything you need to know about him and his shitty game:
  • He does little to no research despite claiming all the time "oh this is the way it is because in Japan X happens"
  • He has no respect or genuine interest in Japanese culture, again despite forcing stuff with an "iN jApAn" excuse
  • He doesn't listen to negative feedback, no matter how politely it's given to him
  • He'll never correct any of his mistakes
It's especially annoying as someone with Japanese heritage who's been trying to learn the language

  • He doesn't listen to negative feedback, no matter how politely it's given to him

Pretty much. He's had professional coders and actual game developers give him advice that could have helped make his game ten times better. And each time he learns jack shit because his head is so far up his ass.

Ngl, after 10 years of following this shit, I think the absolute worst voice actor in YS was Michaela Laws - the main fucking character. Not only is she usually just bad, but in YS she also tries to do this weird "I'm a totally empty inside psychopath" voice, which comes out just horrible. She sounds like she is high on drugs or some shit.

I also remember her being turbo pissed off about yansim's child fans flodding her channel, because she wanted a more "adult" audience that would coom to her amazing content. She would complain how every time she released a video, streamed or made an announcement, those retards would only talk about YS. Tho, she knew that before YS she was basically nobody and noone gave a shit about her other works, so she begrudgingly continued to voice Ayano and Ryoba.

From the looks of it, YS hasn't really helped her career. On youtube, she is a big tits latina vuber, who gets at most a thousand views even though she still has 500k subs leftover from the YS people. Professionally, she is still doing the lowest of the low anime, indie romance visual novels and literal porn games. The only two works from her portfolio I recognise are yansim and fucking YIIK lmaoo
Tbh the voice acting was the worst part of this game from what I can remember. There's nothing worse than shit tier fake voice acting. Especially in anime dubs that aren't intentionally supposed to be parodies like the more popular fandubs.

They need to be made to put some actual effort into it and sound like an actual human being saying this shit even if they're going to laugh their ass off afterwards. It just makes me cringe whenever I hear english anime dubs and they start off with the obviously fake voices showing they have resentment for the medium versus other acting roles where they actually try to be in character.

Might have been more interesting if the setting had been changed from "forgettable japanese high school taken off the unity asset store" to college or the "real world" since alex was sperging about wanting to turn YS into a hitman clone for a few years. Would also have distanced the project from a lot of controversial issues and retardation. Could do a hell of a lot more with the character taking on part time jobs and having a car to go to other locations.

Though IIRC alex did attempt something of an open world like that with a bicycle. I assume that idea never went anywhere like usual. Since the game was a literal slideshow with a ton of untextured models and geometry from what I remember of that build.

Última edición:
If anyone's heard of Anonymous Agony (a funny cringeworthy RPGMaker adventure game some guy has been haunting /v/ with for over a decade), I adored the voice acting in that game even though it was done by a bunch of unpaid amateurs. It honestly felt like most of the VAs were trying to work with the dialogue even though the quality is just as teenager-tier as Yandere Simulator. It also helps that the writing has insane amounts of self-insert power fantasy insanity, to the point where it becomes comedic. Don't wanna derail but there's a mandaloregaming playthrough of it if anyone's interested.

So I've looked through all of the Alex's lolcow history (don't ask, I'm bored) and I'm pretty sure someone out there already raised the topic of his "Depression™" because from what I observed:

- when he was 16 he couldn't find a girlfriend, was depressed and wanted to die
- when he was 20-something he still couldn't find a girlfriend, was depressed and wanted to die
- showed his first shitgame to Mike Z, became depressed and also anGy
- when Twitch banned him he apparently was depressed (didn't suicide bait though)
- then, of course, THE GREMLINS came and started hating on his poor ass, making him depressed from year 2017 and to this day
- suicide baiting at this time and also when crying in Apeis's dms
- he was soooo depressed he "allowed himself to talk to a 16 y.o" sexually

In other words, the dude is literally never happy or satisfied lmao.
Like. I understand it's not ethical nor it's really "kind" to devaluate his feelings, as in mental health is a big topic to discuss and I really can't crawl into his head to experience his life (the thought makes me sick). However, quoting the Word Master himself:
"Out of respect for those who's actually been depressed" I assume his constant Depressions™ are just man-childish hissy fits when he gets consequences for his actions, when he doesn't get what he wanted or when he doesn't want to change his behaviour (always). I was genuinely fucking tired from the way he spammed his made-up diagnosis.
Maybe he just meant it as a state of misery because not everything went the way he thought, maybe he actually meant like a Clinical Depression. Idc honestly, because Alex is the last person to actually care about mental health of other people around him, so why should I bother.
Just curious to discuss this topic.

What I consistently see in people like Alex is that they don't understand that 'Normal' isn't happy every day for 99% of people. Sure, on reflection most people would consider their average day happy or good, but its an active reflection thing measuring it up, not constant euphoria. For most people, the average day just feels ok, with a few shitty or frustrating days sprinkled around, and the occasional really good day here and there. You see your friends doing things IRL, and have days where you hand out and just just a few dudes waiting out the heat in the middle of summer, watching an ok show because nothing else is on tv, and talking shit. As mid as life can get, and that helps set your understanding of normal.

People like Alex who have so few friends and social interactions IRL, draw their conclusion from television and film, video games, and more recently social media. All of these present 'normal' life as exciting, adventurous, and passionate, either from runtime restrictions, actively being an engaging entertainment product, or by encouraging people to filter and play up their lives for others. Contrasting any normal life to this makes it seem like your constantly fucking up, alone, and its easy to either think you are depressed when you're just 'normal', or to actually self induce some level of depression just by virtue of holding yourself to impossible standards.

And I don't even think this counts as armchair psychology at this point, since Covid put most of our youth population in that situation for a few years, and they got all kinds of fucked up from it. Primarily socializing online can be really dangerous for peoples sense of self when they're young, and Alex is just a casualty of that.

I refuse to powerlevel so I can pretend to have any authority on depression over the internet, so I won't, but I will say that it is infuriating to hear about how "hard" Alex has it when he is a goddamn moron and literally handed success - or what amounts to it - on a silver platter. For reference, Markiplier's video on YanSim currently has over 19 million views. An animation about Markiplier playing YanSim has over fucking 56 million views. It doesn't need to be said how many developers would kill for even a fraction of that attention for their own games. In contrast, the trailer for Undertale, darling of the internet and SJW wet dream, has 4.6 mil. views.

And yet, he squandered it. All of it. Even Omori took almost a decade to be made, so it's not like game development time is a factor on whether or not a game will explode in popularity. The one thing Alex needed to do is make a functioning game. Instead he dragged his feet at every step of the way, so now all his legacy will be comprised of is him being a creeper and being a cancer on the internet. The game will flop, and it's gonna be funny.

Alex couldn't be depressed even if God Himself smites him with it because on basically every level he would count as "sad" and not depressed. Sure, he may be a pedophile with access to children and should get what he deserves, but clinical depression involves chemicals in the brain being out of control. Alex spent a good chunk of his formative years having his brain fried by the internet, being a textbook incel from teenage years to now, and managed to escape justice for his pedo tendencies. Twice. If Alex were to seek help for his "depression" or just to be a better person, he would have to start from scratch, which isn't happening.

However, quoting the Word Master himself:

His "depression" is just frustration because the world doesn't fit his edgy juvenile black and white view and the age of consent laws exist. People keep saying that he is gonna drop Yansim because ooh oh he says he is tired of it and gets 0 money, but the reason is way more simple - after getting asspats for several years now the only affection he gets is from his Discord cucks, who he openly hates and degrades, because they are mostly children. But even this is still more than nothing and his shriveled narcissistic ego will never let him go of it.

Also, fuck him for using it as an excuse for being an asshole and a creep. That's an insult for every person with genuine depression. "Ooh I was so depressed that I couldn't work on a game, but could waste my days in games, on saltybet and talking to some juvenile BPD attention whore about "nature itself sexualizing minors", poor me, pity me"

Alex spent a good chunk of his formative years having his brain fried by the internet, being a textbook incel from teenage years to now
That's one of the reasons why he is "sad". He's spent and still spending so much time watching porn and hentai that his dopamine receptors are smashed harder than Elaine Miller.

Yes, actually, now that I think about it, it's just another example of his extremely worthless and unhealthy life choices. Internet and social media are a Pandora Box of sorts - just like irl relationships are, only exagerrated. It's not a very reliable source of happiness - but the more I think about it, the more I think about how a person could man up and gain tougher skin, to learn how to manage their time and all that stuff. Touch some grass dude, or whatever. But oh well, it's Alex we're talking about.

I refuse to powerlevel so I can pretend to have any authority on depression over the internet, so I won't, but I will say that it is infuriating to hear about how "hard" Alex has it when he is a goddamn moron and literally handed success - or what amounts to it - on a silver platter.
That too is a thing I've been thinking about, like the dude is never satisfied with what he wants of even deserves. He's got millions of subscribers - he's unhappy with the e-mails. He's got TinyBuild - he's unhappy they are changing his code. He's got popular - he's unhappy that he doesn't have time to play video-games or watch anime. Despite hitting a gold mine, he screwed it up - and I think he can never be truly happy lmao.

Pretty much. I just think he'll never drop YanSim, because he's pathetic like that. But yeah, gotta whine constantly about getting even more depressed until he'll groom a 6 y.o and gets to jail or something

He doesn't give a fuck because it's easier for him that way. What he includes in the game has a 50/50 chance of being based on anime or what he imagines would suit anime - whichever he likes more. He also can't decide if he wants this game to be an anime parody or something serious that he thinks could actually happen in Japan.

For example, in anime a ton of characters have pun names or just names with certain meaning relevant to the character. In actual anime, even ones that don't take themselves seriously, those names actualy sound legit. In YS, Alex has taken the route of japanising English names/words and using Japanese words without checking if they could be even be used for names, sometimes splitting them to create a name and a surname. This resulted in literal abominations. Like, what the fuck even is Uekiya Engeika, Osoro Shidesu or fucking Skubi Dubidu. Even the names that sound more legit to non-Japanese speakers seem wrong. Actual Japanese people know how to create a credible name with a meaning, he doesn't. He has poeple who speak Japanese in his audience and they have many a time offered their help with this but he just doesn't fucking care lol

Another one is just the general look of the characters who are supposed to be students. Alex claims he "did research" about Japanese high schools but he seemed to have missed the fact that schools, especially private ones, take themselves very seriously and if you showed up looking like one of yansim characters you would be fucked. Their looks are imo too extra for even anime. Those characters have so much purposeless shit on them, not only would that not pass in a school but it also doesn't tell me fucking anything about them other than the club they belong to. Very subtle character design.

Yeah, Alex's Japan research is bullshit and he doesn't care. He will not pronounce Yandere correctly because that is too much effort. He is the most sterotypical weeaboo to ever exist - hides behind "Japanese culture" to justify his retarded actions and beliefs but has zero knowledge of how Japan actually is. If he lived in Japan, he would be bullied to death for being a burden on society.

He did actually do some research way, way back in the day, he even managed to get someone to hook him up with an actual Japanese teacher to give some pointers in design, shit like what would actual students wear and how would an actual school be laid out. He just very quickly threw all of it in the garbage and stubbornly went with that unrealistic abomination of a design direction because he was so terminally attached to that seifuku model he copped from the Unity asset store as a "placeholder".
