Since their urethra was routed through it in most cases, surgeons would have to try and re-route it again, which further increases the chance of urethral scarring and strictures.
Also, rotdogs have an average "lifespan" of only around a few years before they have to be amputated from things like gangrene or sepsis, so many pooners have to undergo "nullification" eventually, anyway.

Not detrans but I remember there was a ftm that did a Phalloplasty, that thing kept dying on her and eventually she got so stressed out about it she lost interest in this procedure and opt to get it off. I don't know how it looks in the end and how it turned out exactly. I saw it here on the farms, perhaps on this thread. The original posts are from Reddit.

I wonder if a purely elective cosmetic surgery, that is guaranteed to fail at some point is covered under insurance in the USA? I guess if it's under the guise of affirming care it might be in some cases. I doubt any such procedure is without routine complications post op. Why would anyone do this? It seems the stress of care is offset by the euphoria. Nobody with baseline cognitive ability would put themselves through this.

There was a breakdown of it somewhere in this thread, but because phalloplasty has such a high rate of complications, there are many individuals who have to have their rotdogs removed within a few months or a year or two. There are some lucky individuals that have kept theirs for awhile, but the high rate of failure skews the average to a rather short amount of time.

I would assume the same about am holes tending to constrict and close up over time due to the contraction of scar tissue and patients not keeping up the aggressive dilation schedule necessary to keep the canal open. So many new MtFs seem to be completely ignorant of how to long-term care for their neovagina after the surgical healing process is finished. Older trans people who had these surgeries a decade + ago are not well-represented in online spaces, and their experience is missing from these communities. I wonder how many of them have nullifications done due to complications like recurring infections, prolapse, or pain from masses of scar issue. It's shocking how hard these surgeries are being pushed on young people while there is such a lack of data about long-term outcomes.

I don't think there's any recent news about her (I could be wrong) so we don't know if she continued with the detransitioning arc or found a doctor to remove the rotdog, but we know for sure that she was disillusioned with the process and regretted it.

I was pretty set going with Dr. Bensimon in Montreal, as many of my friends have had good experiences and I don't to go out of Canada for surgery. Bensimon has 2 instagram accounts, one for FFS and another general plastic surgery instagram. I unfortunately noticed that the general instagram follows a number of transphobic weirdos, including who I consider one of the final bosses of transphobia, Matt Walsh.
I know that a follow doesn't equal endorsement and perhaps one of his staff manages his social media and he doesn't know he is following these accounts, or perhaps he is following to know what is going on with the far-right as it directly impacts his clients? Either way I sent a charitable email asking if it was one of those reasons and I haven't heard back yet.
Would you let an instagram follow impact your decision? I understand that broadly a rich successful surgeon is going to be more conservative than the average person but it feels a little icky potentially giving 10s of thousands of dollars to someone who secretly hates me
