Just the fact that it was nominated 7 times is disgraceful.

Still wish TOTK won
What does BG3 do exactly that has people worshiping it so much that other games from the past haven’t done?
I wanted a new Dino Crisis for almost 20 years, but thanks to the Resident Evil 4 demake, my copium addiction is finally cured.Dino Crisis... please
He wanted Starfield to win which is funny as there is less people playing Starslop right now then there are playing Skyrim which is a 12 year old game. Cope Bethdrone.Who would you have preferred to win?
It's not really doing anything different from the games you listed outside of how the genres differ, it is just in that same list for being a well-crafted game that it's creators cared about. The whole 'wake up call' is kind of copium because it won't change giant shit-producing companies minds about their crappy practices. They are simply excellent games that would be excellent any time, but in the age of shitty micro-transaction live-service nightmares and unfinished forced out crap they are that much more attractive in comparison.Still wish TOTK won, but I fully expected BG3 to win, so I’m not surprised by the outcome.
That said, what is it about BG3 that has people raving about it being “revolutionary”, “a wake-up call to the industry”, and “one of the greatest achievements in the medium”? Cause while I’m sure it’s great (and definitely has more new in it than other nominees like TOTK and SM2), this is something that many other games have been acclaimed of doing in the past (TW3, BOTW, RDR2, ER, etc).

Well, as an example, at one point you are tasked with killing three leaders of a goblin horde preparing to raze a community to the ground. You can sneak in and fight them, go in guns blazing and just kill everything, lie your way in, pick up a bunch of exploding barrels, pile them around the boss and blow him up without even fighting him, also kil him by shoving him down a hole, turn yourself invisible and shank him in the back, or just join him and go burn down that village that wanted you to save them. Among other strategies.Still wish TOTK won, but I fully expected BG3 to win, so I’m not surprised by the outcome.

I'm glad someone else played that game. This was the highlight for me, for sure, loved the first one.Rise of the Golden Idol revealed (wasn't expecting a sequel to one of my favorite indies).
It doesn't do anything unique, it just does a bunch of things other games have done but does it all pretty well. The most notable of these is player agency. Aside from the numerous routes you can take on quests, the combat is very reactive to your actions. Aside from the generic "red barrel explodes when fire is thrown at it", things that you think would work actually work. What does BG3 do exactly that has people worshiping it so much that other games from the past haven’t done?
Need to make a lever move but it's out of reach? Shoot a spell at it.
This vent is spewing deadly gas? Put a barrel on top of the vent to clog it.
You want to start a fight with some people in a room but you know their friends in the adjacent room will aggro too? Stack barrels to block the door so they have to run around the building.
Person you murdered won't talk to you when you cast speak with the dead? Cast a disguise self spell before doing that and they'll think you're someone else.
like Neverwinter Nights 2, and that wasn't even voiced.
Is this some weird woke lgbt horror trash? Udo Kier is gay, Hunter Schafer is a gay tranny & Peele is a woke jogger. Wtf is wrong with Kojima?? This shit is going to bomb harder than Little Boy and Fat Man during WWII.Well Hideo Kojima's new game "OD" is staring Hunter Schafer, the tranny from Euphoria. Apparently Jordan Peele, who writes many black-centric horror films including Get Out, Us, & Nope, will be assisting in the project. Hunter's digitized form in the game fails to look like a woman and ends up looking like a teenage boy.
