Yet another war crime from the most moral army in the world.
I think the thing that does my head in is we're all sitting there watching them levelling Gaza. Killing thousands of innocent people. Lying constantly and so many people are just believing the lies. All the western leaders besides Ireland are totally fine that. Every day we can watch videos of war crimes and yet the supposed adults in charge and compliant media just go, "no they're not." Watching completely unacceptable things. They go, "yeah it's fine." It's pure evil.

lol who gives a shit. Irish leaders are delusional retards. They fought against the mild-mannered Brits and still bitch about it. Or I should say, "we" did - since they ignore the fact that Irish were underrepresented in their own fights and Brits/Americans (with Irish ancestry) did a lot of it.
Israel is fighting against an abhorrent enemy, and nobody is expecting them to be clean. Hell, I'd like to see them get a bit dirtier.

I just think the deliberate mass slaughtering of innocent civilians is wrong and doing so is abhorrent. I don't understand how people can't see this is circular logic. Hamas is so abhorrent it justifies being abhorrent to them. Shouldn't that justify it back? I don't know, I'm not a complicated person. I was just raised in a household with values against committing genocide and war crimes.
We can agree to disagree on that. We can still have a beer and laugh at fat people.

No one in Israel gives a shit about Ireland. We only pay attention to relevant countries like France or Germany, and we grow our own potatoes anyway.

Terrorists aren’t covered by the Geneva Convention. Plus it’s only losers of wars who get done for war crimes and not industrialised western powers with nuclear weapons. Israel can get a letter from The Hague and just say “LMFAO”

The civilians of Gaze are covered. There's also the dubious way people apply terrorism. Israel doesn't have a legal basis for what it's doing as Palestinians have a right to fight against their occupier. Israel doesn't have a right of retaliation. It's all complex but yeah thing is a mess. I think in general, don't slaughter civilians, but that's just me. The fighters would fall under prisoner of war conventions. Although I'm sure Israel is not signed up to most conventions on human rights. Criticising it and weather or not they could technically be charged. Has nothing to do with if it is morally correct.
I know, systems borked. ICC, but only for Africans.
Back when we were being taught Humanitarian law, they told us that many people think they should start an investigation into Israel. It would collapse the entire thing. Which wouldn't be a bad thing because it's so flawed with how it only goes after African countries. Then hopefully they could move onto something better and more effective. Or end the pretence it is just.

I know this has probably been mentioned (Given the discourse of Fatah and Hamas) but it is still interesting nonetheless. This is a conflict going on in Gaza, not Palestine in its entire. What Hamas (and the Palestine "to the sea" lobby) has been successful in doing is really establishing. When people think of Palestine, they really only just think of a small stretch of desert. This is one of the most willful and effective half-lies that have been made use of because it gives Hamas legitimacy. It allows them to dominate the news cycle by going "muh holocaust", redefining it in their terms. It is a linguist battle of legitimacy. If they lose Gaza, it doesn't matter if they gain more popular support. They intended to use the inhabitants there as a human shield. Most in the self proclaimed "pro-palestinian" camp are as such, playing into the long term legitimacy goals of Hamas. It's easier to defeat a cut off enemy rather than one being supplied by the outside.
And this is where Hamas' rhetorical victory really comes into play. Any sane person wishing for the complete and utter destruction of another group, knows that it is easier to achieve this if you can rally people together with the presumed belief that if they do not act, they'll be destroyed. This brews conflict, and so on, until we reach a point whereby the lowly folks are wishing to engage in this conflict.

The problem is that half measures will just let the killing of civilians on both sides continue, the only way to stop it is to either fully capitulate, which neither side wants, or grind them into dust swiftly.
As a thought experiment, if Israel and simply ethnically cleansed the Palestinians in 1967 then they would have avoided half a century of conflict and death.
By being merciful you're paradoxically simply prolonging the conflict and creating more death.

The civilians of Gaza are not really covered in the way most people think. The Geneva Convention prohibits the DELIBERATE targeting of civilians. If you are targeting a Hamas weapons facility that just so happens to be under an apartment building with 100 civilians in it, we'll, sucks for them, but they should not have lived on top of an Arms cache. The target was of a military nature. The 100 dead civilians are collateral damage, which is permitted.
Hamas just cynically exploits this expectation of purely clean fighting in wars by idiot westoids by insuring all their military infrastructure is placed such a way to maximize the collateral damage necessary to get rid of it. It WAS and effective strategy, so long as Israel wasn't willing to take the PR hit necessary for getting rid of Hamas' infrastructure.

Yeah that's fine. I've never had a problem with that if it needs to be done and Hamas is deliberately instigating it. What I don't fucking like is the occasional atrocity and shooting of civies in secured zones.
That shit happens and I guarantee nobody is gonna get punished, and as more civies get shot and the cycle continues. I just don't think the grunts on the ground don't get much oversight when it comes to this. Would love to be wrong.
