I see it as two different things that have a lot of crossover. I mean, I’m sure there are psychiatrists who would take your view that it’s a matter of degree, and nobody can prove that it isn’t.
I’ve met what I consider to be a true blue sociopath, it’s like full aposematic response from the first encounter. “Whatever that thing is, it isn’t human, and it should be killed with fire for the good of the tribe.”
Imagine if something fairly intelligent but not human, like an octopus, put on a human suit, and come one rainy Monday, they’re your new coworker.
The human suit looks about 50, and it’s wearing American Eagle shit from the mall!? This is a factory, that’s throwing money away. Also there are no teenage girls who would give a shit about what you spent on mall clothes at the factory.
The octopus in the human suit doesn’t have a car. They are wearing $400, but they don’t have a car.
The factory runs custom built machinery, so no, despite the octopus running a program that demands it portray intimate knowledge of the equipment because of outlandish claims made on their resume, it can’t have seen this control panel before, and lo, it starts pushing random buttons while the machine HAD been working perfectly normal.
“What are you doing?” The supervisor asks the octopus. “Fixing it” says the octopus. Lo, nothing was fixed. There is now a box of scrap.
The next day, your supervisor’s supervisor comes up and asks “what happened yesterday? I heard you made a lot of scrap.”
“Oh, that was the octopus.”
“Not what I heard!”
“Well, you should ask Supervisor.”
The octopus tried to rat you out UP THE CHAIN for something THEY did IN FRONT OF THE SUPERVISOR.
Also, somehow, they don’t understand how rapport works. Their whole plan depended on them either being more well liked or more trusted than you, on their first day, when you’ve been there for years. Mind boggling.
Of course it wasn’t going to work. A normal person would’ve seen that and stopped themselves from the whole chain of events. You can go crazy from wondering what the fuck goes on in their head.

How lovely. Nick shows up after his multiple months worth of vacations and hiatuses with a new distraction: "I should ask you all more often for suggestions! <faux humility>" and then gives instructions of convenience for their free labor. As if he is regularly seen utilizing other people's advice.
His paypigs are schmucks so they don't see what a transparent insult this is. It is hard to feel sorry for any of them. It's just remarkable how openly he gets off to yanking the chain of his own audience and they continue to pretend it's normal human behavior. It's like he is testing the boundaries to see just how delusional these people really are and so far he hasn't found the cliff's edge*

You didn't receive a fulsome reply to this question. I was waiting for someone else to ring in so that I could duck incoming fire that comes with this issue but it never came. So, here's my attempt...
The easy answer :
- He's defended men who can reliably be viewed as pedos.
- Yes, he defended Cuties which, I believe, was largely due to his contrarian brand of humor. When the Internet mob unites on almost any topic, Dick will often push back. He's weighed in that it was initially meant as an indictment of child exploitation (which is true) that got totally twisted and fucked up.
- He's from LA and therefore seldom seems to give any fucks about conventional morality.
- Plenty of smart minds (and I'd put Destiny in that camp), online and off, have debated this issue.
- Problem: It allows MAPs to be accepted on some level. Think about "alcoholism is a disease".
- Accepting MAPs as a psychological disorder puts reliance on psychotherapists - a crowd that's notoriously unreliable and overly sympathetic, with little proof of positive outcomes or cures - to treat the MAP "disease". In fact, it implies that MAPs can be cured and, thus far, most evidence proves the opposite.
- The cultural debate is even more complex. 1) We now know that the onsumption of actual child porn is far bigger than anyone imagined, say, even a mere decade ago.. 2) In mainstream porn, no one seems to indict the category of "teens" (many of whom are still likey underage) as among the top searches on PornHub.
- I won't even ring in on comics, anime, loli, furries, and cosplay because I would never be able to define the nuances. But, safe to say, that all of those communities have sexualized children.
- Meanwhile, on the radical left, the chant "we're coming for your children" haunts any adult with a modicum of morality.
- Is it okay to acknowledge that there are armies of MAPs in an effort to "treat" them?
- Do we acknowledge that this is likely a spectrum? Millions on PornHub watch 18-year-olds who look like 14 year-olds and don't ACTUALLY abuse kids - I'm assuming. Is that a disease that should be treated or just a kink for which the viewers safely self-treat?
- Or, is it better to lean into traditional morality? Maybe it's best to keep it there. Once "acknowledgement" occurs, there is always some acceptance.
The Nick of the matter actually displays all the hypocrisy on this topic as this thread has rightly pointed out. He's famously "on the wall" (meaning kill) pedos, yet has mended fences with Vito, hangs with Drex, adores Dick (a MAP "apologist"), and clearly consumes massive amounts of porn which, I'm willing to bet, has involved underage people, whether he knew it or not.

His relapse into the degeneracy is coming back faster and faster. Last time he returned from a vacation where he said he went incognito and then said he's gonna lay off the degeneracy streams and drink less, it took him like 2-3 weeks to return to both. This time he went on camelot's saturday degen stream on the very week he returned and hasn't stopped drinking.
Dude is struggling to keep doing the thing he clearly doesn't want to do anymore and the more he goes on vacation, the more he struggles picking it back up after he returns from the vacation. I can totally see him lose it mid stream about this soon

i think this was one of the main reasons i stopped listening to him but it was probably a year ago. eventually i was like "why the fuck do i keep listening to this guy talk about all of the names of the hotels he stayed in and what interstate route he used to drive to texas? i don't give a fuck about ANY of this".
seeing those chat logs people were posting; looks like a lot of his audience are old, whore, lonely house frows. rekieta's demographics seem completely fucked up which i'm sure is an extra layer of pain to his situation. seeing that your audience used to be like 20-35 year old men and shit was fun and now his locals chat is 48 year old women posting their swangers and talking about camelots thighs. what a fucking nightmare.

What makes it so ridiculous is he didn't say these things out of genuine anger. When he says these things he seems to believe he's being relatable, heartwarming, transparent and realistic. His core problem is he has extremely poor judgement for a man of his age and stature. People really underestimate how much prolonged heavy drinking destroys your decision making ability. Nick is the poster boy for that. In his head everything he's doing makes sense and all these decisions are defensible if not outright correct.
People are offering up psychological diagnoses but he's genuinely just a drug and drink addled moron with the narcissism required to be a YouTuber and the arrogance of someone born with a silver spoon.
