🦊 Furry Fredrik Knudsen / "Down the Rabbit Hole" Guy / Loren The Owl - Youtube documentarian turned gay furry vtuber

I always had an awful feeling about him.
He’s an absolute reprobated ruffian hooked nosed kikeroach. Even if he is Jewish, the surname Knudsen sounds about right.
YT is full of degenerate roaches controlled by their greaseball kikeroach executives who will give them a few thousand shekels for every degenerate content produced by corrupt individuals.

I often wonder, why is YT full of corrupt content creators? It’s been downhill since 2015 and yet all these perpetrators are immune to prosecution for their malfeasances like DSP.

in the case of Fredrik; they get trapped in the long form video format and now refuse to make consistent shorter videos because they feel that's their "thing" now, same thing almost happened with Internet Historian but he wised up and said those videos too long too make and is now back uploading once every few weeks again on his alt channels, leave the multi-hour behemoths to someone like Noah Caldwell-Gervais.
Yeah, I think anyone would start to wig out and start doing crazy shit if they worked on the same dumbass Youtube video for YEARS. I think Fredrik could've just taken a break every now and then to release a shorter video to manage his burnout like you said. I can't imagine he didn't run into new video ideas along the way only to go "Ugh... I'm busy making this billion hour EVE video already though... oh well..." It didn't even have to be lolcow content.

He asked his fanbase that multiple times, and they all said they'd be down for shorter content more regularly, but Fredrik decided to ignore this. Every time.

Why the fuck would DSP need to be arrested, he's just a numbskull on the internet who plays games badly and suckers other brain champions into giving him money to reach donation goals like "I'll wear this sweater for 50$".

I find it hard to fathom how anyone can think he or Fred are "corrupt" when they're not stealing money from their audience. The people who pay their bills do it of their own free will.

Damn, I didn't know he was infected too. He's already hit the fursuit stage, too. He's furfucked. Shit's terminal. RIP Freddy, the hazmat team will have to fish you out of the yiff pile.

Not a cow" posts pretty much universally age poorly and immortalize your foolishness for the rest of us.
What really gets me are the people making essays out of it. Those will be very funny to look back at - that and the older users that have surely seen plenty of cows called "not cows" in every fucking new lolcow thread yet go ahead and repeat their same spiel. How do they not learn? Yeah, sometimes they're right, but what is there to gain from spamming it?

God damn it, I'm getting some of the Fredrik vtuber shit in my feed
also 'jannie' of the library lmao

It's really scary to me how easily people can be dragged into this shit. How do you not let love-bombing and degen-creatives decay you?
I've done creative work and I can see why Fredrick ended up this way, and frankly it's only going to get worse since he has no real faith in anything immaterial and started out as at best a fence-sitter. The reality is that you go from a guy with few prospects, shit life, no real hope, and then suddenly you're king-fuck.
People will love you and reward every insecurity, ignoring your worst traits so long as you give them gratification. But over time it really consumes a person, because you start to forget why you had reservations about them to begin with. You don't want to insult things even if they disgust you because to a guy like Fred, that'd feel like insulting your neUwU friends. Slowly that shifts your personal overton window.
You're simultaneously in a position of power, and subservient, there's no real way for a guy like him to just say "no". And the less you say no, the more you say yes.
Granted, given that the furry video exists, I get the feeling he's been this way for a loooong time. No one who doesn't jack off to yiff can look at that endless trash of a community and say anything positive about it.

The problem with "not a cow" mentality is that everyone who creates is a cow to some degree. This is regardless of if you make anything good, make shit, etc.
People who have interests and passions are interesting, and usually autistic. The more interesting and autistic you are, the more people study you. In turn, you are more likely to begin to have proclivities towards strange or spergy behaviour. Cow-status has no relevance to a concept of a persons work ethic, quality, morality, or ability. It wholly relates to "is this person interesting" and "do they do things that are entertainingly degenerate/weird."
Fred himself betrays that he does not understand this by his quotes deriding the farms/its userbase. Despite him scraping this place for stuff he seems to misunderstand fundamentally that a "lolcow" isn't just a Chris-Chan for people to bully. Its connotations are far broader.

Just caught up on this 43 page spergfest, and I'll start by echoing the sentiment: Disappointing, but not unexpected. The signs were all there, from his comment on Sseth's Wizardry video to him generally slowing down in content.

"Well researched" long form YouTube content like DTRH is a hard and thankless job, and doesn't always pay off. It's easy to get burned out in that environment... especially when streaming for superberries is so much easier.

As far as the idea of a deep dive on spreadsheets in space, a.k.a. Eve Online, there is more than enough content to make a video in the DTRH style... almost too much content. Where do you start? How much detail do you go into? The first big scam/bank heist? The rise and fall of Band of Brothers? "The Mitanni sends his regards"? Russian whales sending hackers to cut people's power? Or how Goonfleet's head of diplomacy was killed in the Benghazi embassy incident? Or whatever this is.

There is some rich internet history to be farmed there; especially for an audience like Fredrik's. He would also be better served making it a series, not unlike Internet Historian's HWNDU/capture-the-flag videos.

He's just the latest example of the gentrification of the internet. People complain that he's forgot what the internet is about. Im pretty sure he's just following the safe for google monetization policy that every mainstream youtuber has follow to kill off the charm of the independent organic internet.
As someone from a time before 4chan... Fredrik is probably too young to remember what the internet was about during some of the things he covered (e.g. Neopets dates back to '99, TimeCube '97). That's part of what made his videos interesting to me: the perspective of someone who grew up with the modern internet digging up the old lore, discussed in dead forums or places like LiveJournal.

Of course that's also what makes it so easy to sell-out: research is hard, and once you're big enough for YouTube to put their thumb on the scale it comes the time to more directly monetize your paypi-- err, audience.

See Contrapoints, See Tim Rogers (thread when?)
Tim Rogers article about why video game nerds should wear designer underwear will always be peak Kotaku shitposting. Tim Rogers was the penultimate hipster... before it was cool. No idea what he's up to these days, last I remember he did the standard game journo "try to be come a game dev" thing... and made an iOS game.

Holy shit lmao, I never even realised it's been well over 2 years since Knudsen last uploaded. Guess I kind of forgot he existed in that time. What is it with these "long form content creators" (for lack of a better term) being so useless at doing their one job? I doubt any of them have real jobs that take away from their youtube time, and Knudsen isn't even the only one.

Joseph Anderson started a video series about the Witcher games that is already 9 hours long at 2/3 parts back in 2020, and since then he not only hasn't finished it but has only posted 1 unrelated video in the 3 years since. MauLer is another example as he started a series about Star Wars The Force Awakens that is already 12 hours long at 4/6 parts back in 2018, has uploaded it at a rate of less than 1 installment per year, and has 4 unrelated videos since the last installment.

The thing that really gets me about Knudsen and these other creators like him is that they have zero problems with streaming for hours on end every week, but complain about burnout when they have to make a single video over the course of several years that is only about as long as a single stream. Knudsen especially tries to hide laziness behind supposedly being a perfectionist, but he never cared about how inaccurate his last video was and streams are an objectively inferior method of delivering the type of analytical content all these guys got big off but they keep doing those.

Even if it wasn't for the streaming hypocrisy, nobody should have any sympathy for these types of youtubers complaining about how "i need to delay because burnout". If it's been 2 years with no content produced, admit you can't hack it anymore and quit, stop leading fans on. Even if Freddy had a real job and only worked on his videos for one day a week or something, he still would have had 119 days since the last video released to make this one, and even if you give him the benefit of the doubt that he couldn't finish all 6 hours in that time he damn well could have split it up into a series of smaller videos and release at least part of it. Because of that, I'll be very surprised if he uploads it any time soon, its more likely he admits he's been lying in his progress updates and that nothing was ever done.

Haven't read the whole thread yet so not sure if anyone has touched on his patreon yet, but it's currently sitting on just over 2,400 USD a month. Due to how long it's been since his last upload, I think it's fair to say that amount probably used to be higher before people gave up and starting cancelling, so a total income since the last video using $2400 will be a lower estimate. Said lower estimate is still over $68,000, roughly $29,000 per annum. An apparently similar salary to a butcher, baker, agricultural worker, cook, etc. I imagine anyone working in those fields would get pretty pissed off seeing that comparison. You work long hours to provide an essential service and get paid the same as somebody who used to make "internet history videos". Actual historians have probably researched and published entire books in less time and on a lower budget than Knudsen's EVE online project, so why anybody would continue to give him money is really beyond me, it's literally just writing his welfare cheques at this point.

I think it's because it starts out as a hobby that gets popular and they don't have the passion to keep it going. Internet Historian for example I think has some experience with 4chan, which is why he could post vids about Pool's Closed and the tumblr-4chan raids. His HWNDU series is what made him but he kept it relatively short. Everyone involved in HWNDU was looking forward to the next season vid and those that were out of the loop could get a catch up on.
You notice from there he starts getting more and more popular, which means increased budget and runtime to do things. The Fall of 76 and Kony2012 vids are his transition over to longer content. He went back to his Incognito vids though, putting out one a month to avoid burn out on the larger topics.

IH correctly pivoted back to doing smaller vids with a larger channel while Freddy here is going down the Vtuber rabbit hole to work off stress/distract himself from the main channel. I think the middle ground would be someone like BigBoss, have the length of a vid be 20 - 30 minutes but split it if it's too big a topic for one vid like his recent Halo ones.

I don't mind creators making a living off of long form content, that's why Youtube exists. It's that people who do it tend to have poor time management and work skills, which means the video gets delayed and they fall into the feedback loop of people asking for it and not wanting to work on it because it's become a Sisyphean rock.

I don't think it's fair to compare streaming to long form video essays. While at their best, a good stream might be as good as an edited video covering a certain subject (maybe even better if the person is good at improvising and doing scriptless content), playing a video game for 8 hours and talking to their chat is far less involved than researching, scripting, voicing, and editing a 6 hour long video. 3+ hour long essays/documentaries are also a super retarded concept, especially on something like a movie or game, as there is only so much you can talk about. So I can completely understand them just getting sick of working on it at some point. Maybe they realised they bit off more than they could chew but they think it's too late to stop now.

I'm not defending Knudsen because regardless of anything 3 years with 0 content is still inexcusable, but if I was MauLer and I realised that I still had 2 more, multiple hour videos to do covering absolute slop movies which I've already put far, far more thought into than the very creators of it ever did, I would put a gun in my mouth (or continue doing my podcast making fun of other YouTube reviewers with my furfag friend and reaping those sweet sweet superchats).

Just found out he actually has a sizeable thread here. Not surprised. Anybody who makes a 4 hour video talking about Black Widow should be put in a mental hospital. Right next to Quinton "THE END OF ICARLY" Reviews.

The thing with Fred is that while burnout is inevitable for every solo content creator doing narrative nonfiction videos, it doesn't mean it can't be managed. One of my favorite content creators in the genre is Atrocity Guide, whose documentaries are roughly a third of your later DTRH video but with even better production value. She doesn't post as frequently as others in the genre like Nexpo or Philion (though the latter is so ADHD-ridden that he can't decide whether to make serious documentaries or reaction videos and the middle ground often becomes Redditor slop), but when your subject matter is intriguing enough and you have the discipline to edit your scripts down to essential information, it makes the difference between a one hour documentary and three hour one. You can probably guess which length will better hold the attention of the viewers.

It also says a lot about Atrocity Guide and Nexpo is that they stay in their niches. I still like DTRH as a series, but it also has a very dry delivery and a format that only really works when the person making the video isn't drawing negative attention to themselves, which Fred has unfortunately done by climbing in bed with hypersexual furries and yes-men Vtubers.
