How did Colorado become so gay?

Now I've never been there so maybe its just media warping my mind, but I used to think it was more of a Montana/Wyoming style rocky mountains cowboy state with a conservative populace. Now it seems like it's California lite that takes pride in having been the first to legalize DUDE LOL plant (and essentially became pothead capital of the world), not to mention they elected a fag governor with even faggier policies. Even the show South Park reflects it. The show was good when it was about jerkwad kids in a small town, then it got bad when they started doing current events stuff and their politics got faggier. Even the town of South Park feels like some kind of Denver expy than a small town.

Elites like skiing, so they moved there. Once they moved there, they needed people to do all their work for them, so they imported those workers. They then voted into office all their friends. Simple as.

It has been documented for over a decade, there was a well cordinated movement to make Colorado blue. Democrats fundraised a ton of money and caught the Republican politicians completely offguard. And your old redneck Colorado people who once made up the state moved out because the cost of living for Colorado has exploded. It already wasn't cheap to live there now it costs serious money to be there unless you wanna live in the shitholes.

I hear they're trying to do the same to Montana too. Wonder if that state's gonna flip red as well.
Say is that book just your run of the mill shitlib leaning propaganda piece or is it fairly unbiased?

Denver is the fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States. The amount of out-of-state transplants in that ugly shit-hole city is incredible, the city is majority people who've moved there and many of them only within the last few years. While many people move to Colorado for the mild weather and beautiful nature, most people moving to the Denver area specifically do so for legal weed and an active music scene. Those people typically aren't very conservative. Beyond Denver most of the state is sparse and barren, so the city exercises outsized political influence within CO. Also, western states have a culture with that brand of conservatism that is all about rugged individualism and a "fuck the government" mentality. They may not like faggots but they don't want the government to do anything about it, leaving them vulnerable to this sort of infection.

Tl;dr Denver is a festering wound full of microbial Mexicans and sodomites, and the infection is spreading out to the rest of the state from there

I can understand the "active music scene" part but leaving your home to move to an entirely new place, for the sole purpose of doing drugs, is freakin weird man.

Upon reflection, that's probably less of a pull these days, because a lot of the far flung places where people would transplant from have liberalized their marijuana laws anyway. Still, the weed market in Denver is ridiculous. There are dispensaries on every block and everything is very good and very cheap, so if you're a massive pot-head there aren't many places you'd be better off in that regard.

Either way, I think you can understand the tendency for young people from smaller areas to move to the city because its cool and happening. Denver offers a nice balance of size, affordability and good weather compared to other cities a young person might choose to move to. As far as places that aren't on the coast, its probably the second most well known after Chicago which is an even bigger unlivable shit-hole than Denver. Denver may be ugly, run-down and full of homeless people but the mountains are nice and the winters are mild and the Mexicans outnumber the blacks.

I do think that's that's the key to it, though. The good weather and the natural amenities of CO are very appealing to everyone, and the people who transplant to new places tend to be either very young or not have families. In contrast, people with conservative values tend to lay down roots, start families and stay in one place. So it is logical that one of the most popular states for people to move to would also be a place that trends leftward in its politics as more rootless cosmopolitans move in and outnumber the normals.

I was in Bozeman last year and holy fuck is it a libshit city. Pride flags in half the windows, book stores putting works by ‘marginalized’ people on display in the front, it was surreal.

Legal Weed. It brought all the Californians into it because now they could smoke at the slopes. Anyone can tell you how damaging legalizing marijuana has been for the state, which is ironic as i used to view Colorado as a Libertarian paradise.

Yeah I think seeing Colorado get turned into a faggot liberal hippie hotbed with "DUDE WEED LMAO" basically being the motto of the state these days is kind of what soured me on the idea of legal pot in the first place. I know that's kinda lame but whatever....

People have rightly mentioned the legalization of marijuana but that was just the final shoe to drop. The process actually started about 35 years or so ago, when celebrities like Sylvester Stallone and Oprah Winfrey started to colonize the state. That started the transformation. In Terlluride and the surroding areas, families that owned ranches found their property taxes quadruple in just a few years, and that was in the late 80s and 90s. Since that baseline they must have exploded even further.
I am not sure how much open borders (a ballot stuffing scheme by the Democrat Party which should be grounds to call off the social contract where those opposed to the Democrats agree to accept a peaceful transition of power in the democratic process). The fault line really seems to be rich, self-hating whites, celebrities and others taking over the state. It is too bad too because it is a beautiful state. Denver is a lot like Seattle, naive whites who cling to their luxury beliefs because they do not yet know the cost of diversity. although outside of Denver itself a whole lot of soulless suburban sprawl.

I wonder why housies keep downplaying property taxes as some minor inconvenience and not a lingering threat that will royaly fuck them over eventually.

The hippies lost, the establishment hipsters won. That's how Hollywood ppl heard of Aspen in the first place.
Hunter Thompson account: The Battle of Aspen

what gets me is this pattern keeps happening over & over--the prototype was Aspen abt 30-40 yrs ago:
Places like Vail, Aspen, Telluride, are funky, unique, cool, very authentic to overprotected rich kids, who stampede in and open organic restaurants and drive out the locals. That's no way to make friends with the locals.
Round here that means the fried catfish places they thought were so authentic and funky. they soon learn all the fried catfish places use plastic cutlery and don't give one shit about recyclng, so they start having temper tantrums about that. etc.

once the rich hipsters move in they start changing the place to be like them, aka the same place they couldn't wait to get away from.

latest casualty: Asheville, NC. right after they trashed
the "Research Triangle" they moved further west with the tofu & kombucha. other casualties: Athens & Savannah, GA, Florida panhandle.

Austin is a goner. Say a prayer and light a soy candle.

The entire front range is pretty well populated these days. Pueblo is a pretty liberal city, as is Fort Collins these days (university there plays a role). Boulder is so ridiculously liberal that I know liberal San Francisco types that moved there and found it to be too much. Anyway, I don’t think sparse and barren describes anywhere from Pueblo straight north through Fort Collins these days.

Get out onto the plains or deeper in the mountains and it is worlds away from the aforementioned places. Even Colorado Springs, the second largest city, is quite conservative and serves as the base for organizations like Focus on the Family. You can’t buy legal for recreational use either. The (former and now disgraced) pastor of one of the Mega churches had newly daily calls with George W Bush while he was president.

One part of weed legalization that people forget is that the DEA threatened to enforce federal law on weed, and neighboring states threw hissy fits about legalization. Colorado told them all to go fuck themselves which was pretty based.

Colorado was long a place where Californians would leave for some place cooler, cheaper, in the mountains, etc. Boulder was the epicenter. When I briefly lived in Denver, there were tons of annoying libshit hipster types, but when I'd meet someone from Boulder, I'd have to suppress my urge to punch them. Legalization of weed early on made it irreversible.

I actually know of people who have moved to Colorado specifically for this. Two girls I knew as a kid. I guess it kind of figures, the father left when they were still babies, and the mother was a trainwreck.

Man it's such a big lie that immigrants would change and vote red instead. Its like a brainrot among conservatives about the based Hispanic bros and even in this thread all I have seen them topple the already existing republicans and turn the whole state into a shithole.
