Could've been, but it could also have been just another Tuesday [or whatever day]. Someone said somewhere that May sounds practiced at de-escalation, and I agree. Always possible he was much worse to her than this here. Would not be surprised at all. And if so, it could explain some gaps in May's appearances on stream.

It's evident that Ralph was abused as a child by his father Ronnie Ralph. Ronnie likely did the same shit maybe worse, get drunk and become physically abusive to his wife and son. Well it might sound like folk wisdom but it's a sad reality kids who are subject to abusive households are likely to grow up to become abusive spouses. Why that is I can't tell you because I'm hardly a psychologist but I figure that as traumatic as domestic violence is part of it becomes normalized in people's psyches. The ragepig briefly remember telling his Baby Mama that he was going to "fucking kill her" and chalks it up to him being sick from all that beer and medication he was on. No big deal.

Based on these lines, I think the wider context for this incident was that after Ralph spilled his piss bottle over his desk, he ordered Pantsu to clean it up. Pantsu, not wanting to clean his piss, said he should clean his own mess. Ralph, being an abusive control freak (as we saw before with Nora and Faith), snapped at this insubordination. He threatened her, grabbed her, belittled her, literally forced her to clean his piss just to maintain control over her.
I don't wanna power level but I've seen this shit before, my dad was like this with my mum. It's a very scary situation and even after the mother finally leaves, she's usually scarred for life. You don't have to actually beat someone to really fuck them up in the head. And yeah, it's a terrible environment for kids to grow up in.
Ralph is basically a manchild. He still has that child mentality of "I do what I want and my mommy/wife looks after me and does everything for me". Only he also has the anger and physical intimidation of a fully grown alcoholic man. Fat and short, sure, but nevertheless quite scary to live with for May.
In short, he's a piece of shit. At 37 or whatever, and after three relationships that all went like this, he's never changing. He's going to be an evil pig monster for his entire life. The shorter that is, the fewer people have to put up with the pain he inflicts on others. I hope his kids never see him again and can live happy lives.

There’s a reason the meme about taking Xanax is that it makes a person want to fight entire police forces.
Everyone saying they “don’t get” why Meigh didn’t do what they think she would have done in this situation is correct: You don’t get it. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be understood, just that you gave up before you got a chance to try putting yourself in her shoes. (You don’t have to like Meigh to do this, BTW. My post history has years of receipts on wanting Meigh to khs.)
Some possibilities for why Meigh didn’t do what you think you should have:
Maybe she did not want to escalate that encounter into a full-blown violent fight in front of Rozy.
Maybe she (correctly) perceived that Ralph was unhinged enough on Xanax to actually kill her.
Maybe she just wanted to diffuse and end the conflict ASAP so it didn’t escalate even more.
Maybe she just wanted to clean up the mess ASAP so she could go comfort her baby. (Having seen Meigh’s lack of eye contact or motherly way with Rozy, this one’s a stretch.)
Maybe her Spanish sucks and she didn’t fancy her chances trying to report a gringo for domestic violence in a culture where men knocking women around is more normalized than here.
I’m posting this more because I wouldn’t want people to think every domestic violence victim is like Meigh. She’s an unrepentant pedo who personally helped Ralph abuse Faith and groom Alice, knowing full well what she was doing. The sooner she’s off this planet, the better. But that doesn’t mean her choices can’t be understood. You just have to have a basic capacity for empathy and bother trying to understand.

Other people holding someone to account is for the benefit of that other person - managing their boundaries, their sanity. For redemption, the "bad guy" has to hold himself to account, or it's not redemption. You can't be mothered or chastised into being a better person.
But none of that matters: Ralph does not want redemption. His precursors and responses to this tape have been
- to proclaim himself Johnny Depp to May's Amber Heard
- to say how rotten it is of her/Harry to air his "worst moment" (boo-hooing over kicking a man when he's down; it's clear he doesn't understand the concept)
- to say he was provoked
- to dismiss it because "no video," no cop action, this isn't what May told Harry, and on
- to insult his wife and call her father psychopathic
- pivot to accusing his wife of having stolen his child [meanwhile having last week disowned both his children, is not paying for their care, and swears he will never set foot in the US again]
- downplay the extent of his substance abuse
- (and previously) to aim to humiliate his wife with the nudes and the Mexican prostitute story
He does not:
- take ownership
- apologize to anyone, including his child
- acknowledge his abuse or threats
- acknowledge the shitty home environment he gave his child
- man the fuck up in word or deed
And not that it's relevant here because he's not doing it, but no, "trying" is not all that matters. Can't un-ring a bell, and though everyone else may move on and recover (or not) from their time with a toxic, abusive person, it is not possible to undo what was done. People who act like Ralph should indeed spend the rest of their lives in penance and trying to compensate for the damage done. They don't, and specifically, Ralph won't. He has no interest or apparently capacity.
Is he permanently irredeemable? Well, I suppose lightning could strike and rewire him. Or 30 years from now he could somehow find a nugget of value in himself and try to become a non-shitty person for his remaining days (which still won't undo the damage already done). But the very high odds are that if he makes it another 30 years and isn't serving life, he'll just be a mean old cuss throwing rocks at dogs from his broken chair on the sagging porch of his broken down shack 10 feet from a dusty highway.

You are correct, I have been there for a couple “I’ll kill you bitch” and it’s the cycle of poor impulse control. Not every child ends up the same, but it’s very likely especially as you mentioned that his father seems to be the main trauma source. His dad talked the same way to his mom I bet.
