Movies that Aged Poorly for you

The first Police Academy

I know everyone shits on the sequels and for good reason, but I found nothing funny in the first movie either. Maybe if I saw it around the time it came out, it'd be funnier

Forrest Gump. For whatever reason, my Mom thought playing a VHS of Forrest Gump and exposing 4-year old me to Vietnam & AIDS was necessary for my development, and I loved it growing up. Now I can barely watch it.

At least we got that Bubba Gump shrimp restaurant out of it.

Hawk the Slayer. Except I wouldn't say it aged poorly, because I thought it was awesome when I was a kid, but now, I think it's a great bad movie. Jack Palance is also way better than this material deserves.

The Don Bluth movies have aged pretty poorly. They're mostly well remembered because there aren't ever enough gloomy cartoons to satisfy demand, so fans of that kinda stuff just take what they can get.

But even among those types of movies, flicks like Coraline and ParaNorman blow An American Tail and Land Before Time out of the water.

Spy Kids. Especially the third one, holy shit. I remember seeing the third one in theaters and it blew my fucking mind as a kid, now I watch it and it's so undeniable that the special effects are terrible.
That's because you were six.

I was eleven. Even then I thought it was unspeakably terrible, and it's not like I was a snob at the time. That was the same time period I thought the Hugh Jackman Van Helsing movie was the shiznit.

That's like saying vomit ages badly. There was no point in history where that would've been "good".
Come now. Maybe @Anime-Chan was six back in 2005.

This movie:

I had an old VHS copy as a kid and watched it at least 500 times. Now it looks like Vaperwave: The Movie.

I used to like Alice in Wonderland a lot as a kid, but for some reason if I try to watch it now, I get the creeps. Maybe it's because I'm aware of the incorrect drug theories now and that's coloring my view of it. Maybe it's because so much of the scenery is dark and shadowy. Maybe it's because things are in a minor key and I can pick up on it now. It's a shame regardless.
Not a movie, but Full House was my shit back when I was in elementary school, much to the despair of my parents. I thought it was a fun show with great, funny characters. Watching it now, it's nothing but sugar coated glurge.

I'd watch Felix the Cat, the Movie on the Disney Channel a lot back in the day. Now as an adult, what shocks me the most was how atrocious the animation is.

^I genuinely laughed at that.

And Felix the Cat is amazing in how bad it is. It's one of those classic trippy gaudy 80s movies you can't help but enjoy imo.

Disney's Pocahontas is the first thing that came to mind. Out of all the films they made during the Disney renaissance, that one is by far the weakest and least rewatchable. I enjoyed it when I was in grade school, but that was only because of the pretty visuals and the novelty of having a Native American princess. Remove those, and it's trash-tier Disney. I have no idea how they could go from a streak that included classics like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast to something as shit as Pocahontas. Even The Hunchback of Notre Dame, flawed as it was, had Tony Jay's incomparable vocal performance (which should have been nominated for an Oscar) and "Hellfire", which is the greatest scene and song in the history of the Disney canon, IMO.

Also, I know it doesn't really count, but Black Swan. I was in middle school when it came out and was absolutely entranced by the film when I first watched it. Upon rewatch, however, the film completely fell apart for me. It just feels like the laziest pastiche of a psychological thriller, cobbled together from bits of better films like Perfect Blue and Repulsion, and then ran through an Oscar bait filter. Remove the Kunislingus scene, and the film is an utter train wreck.
