I can answer that.

Due to social changes since their creation, comics and cartoons became viewed solely as for kids. Doesn't matter that Disney used to make shorts for adults in the theater, or how a bunch of comics pre-CCA were read by adults, or even that the Flintstones was for adults when it was in black and white, eventually they were seen as for children only. It doesn't matter how much "passionate" Dobson is about his arts, or how he went through the training to become a cartoonist. In the end, there's going to be a generation of older folks who will dismiss him and his work solely because it's "kiddie crap."

I wonder how Dobby would take Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

I can answer that.
Due to social changes since their creation, comics and cartoons became viewed solely as for kids. Doesn't matter that Disney used to make shorts for adults in the theater, or how a bunch of comics pre-CCA were read by adults, or even that the Flintstones was for adults when it was in black and white, eventually they were seen as for children only.

On the same level, I think the Looney Tunes were actually also targeted for adults mostly AND many of their jokes back in the days were actually adressed towards them and in relation to stuff in 50s "pop"culture. Also it doesn't help that there was a long period of time in the 70s and 80s where (social changes aside), cartoon were primarily made for kids and as such significantly dumped down in terms of storytelling, at least on the western side. Japan on the other hand utilized the medium of animation also to tell some more adult stories even back in the days. I am seriously amused/surprised by the kind of "depth" you may find in Osamu Tezuka's work if you look into it a bit more.
And speaking of those western cartoons, let's not forget that for someone who wants elderly people to understand that cartoons as a medium are not just kiddy crap, he enjoys the kind of kiddy crap even other manchildren will look down upon. See Captain N or the old Zelda Cartoon.

Back on topic for a bit: Any bets on what this month's wallpaper will be, if there is even one coming out, seeing how his patreon drops? I will say Minecraft or Steven Universe.

Its not even about lesbians, since they all have no gender. And even if you wanted to argue female-coded, which fine, I'll buy it, we're still talking about an entire species of beings that are all on gender and who's distinction comes from a hierarchy/class system (rarer gems are treated in higher standing than common ones, only gems that are the exact same fuse with each other are suppose to fuse, not different ones, ect)

If anything, it's more a racial parallel than a homosexual one.

Fitting that Dobson manages to identify with the one character from the show (Peridot) who lacks the understanding of humor, comes off as creepy at times, has an ego issue, severe neuroses, fails at basic housework, manages to come off as offensive at times without realizing it and lacks a total understanding of how same sex relationships are more or less working for real, aside of something she has seen in a bad cartoon she obsesses about.

In fairness to Dobby's earlier tweet, a lot of "abstract" art is rather pretentious and unappealing (at least in my personal opinion). Maybe some people see a lot of meaning in it, but they tend to have a more, uh, intellectual deep-thinker mindset than I expect from Dobson. So I can't see him getting into the stuff even if he was willing to listen to someone else's feedback.

But that said, obviously he could stand to branch out. Maybe emulate different cartooning styles, or draw something other than pop-culture "fan art" created just to attract certain attention.
