Ernst Rohm became a threat to Hitler. Rohm was on the more socialist wing of the party wanting to push reforms to more benefit workers further (remember this next time someone tries to tell you fascism is the opposite of socialism or communism.) Plus the Brown Shirts were annoying different factions such as the army and the SS.

I'm not as upset by this as I should be, I think. But I do take heart that such things as this will end. Even if not in my lifetime.
"A Franciscan nun once told me that being one's true self is the holiest thing a person can do." This is something I've seen a lot of, within the LGBT community. Especially in the T section. Why is living as your "true self" the ideal here? Being one's "true self" involves embracing not only what little good you can do, but also the great amount of evil. It's not this idyllic scenario where you live an open and honest life. It's a terrible situation where, in pursuit of this "truth," you descend further and further into the pit until you don't really know who you are. This is why it's best to emphasize your best self, rather than your truest self. Being your "truest self" gives you license to do dumb things like chop your breasts or penis off or gallivant about in public with fetish gear. It doesn't emphasis doing good for the sake of others. It doesn't put us in a mindset of humility and love. Living your "truest life" only makes you selfish and self-centered, while claiming to be good.
Seriously, I don’t know what that nun meant, it’s a pretty core teaching of Catholicism the humans are very flawed. Everyone has susceptibility to the vices to varying degrees and it’s important to recognize what your flaws are so that you can work on them, not staple them to your identity and allow them to run your life.
