Nah, I could see the appeal of a group of girls to chat with about games in general and bitch about the creepy men that don't take us seriously or hit on us. There's any number of things that a group like that could talk about that non-gamers don't care enough about to understand, and it is nice to have a space with no guys, for reasons we've gone into a number of times on this thread.

The subreddit is a group of mtfs with a fetish, yes. Probably talking about how much they (don't) get hit on and omg it's so awful, but kinda validating. With the occasional handmaiden who more than likely has built her personality around being a Girl Gamer.

I mean, it's reddit. Of course that's what it is. But I think there's a gamer section on Overit, which is probably pretty cool.

Yeah, like AcceptOnlySubstitutes said, it can be a nice escape from being harassed by creepy men on Twitch just because you have a high-pitched voice. Slight powerlevel but this is why I don't think I could be a streamer, because I'm embarrassed by my voice and I don't want it to lead to mockery or harassment.

Though I do get where you're coming from, as well. I don't like the idea of calling myself a "girl gamer" just because I'm a girl who happens to play video games. I don't want to be pigeonholed like that. I'm just someone who enjoys games the same way anyone else does.

Streaming also puts you in a constant entertainer position where there's a potentially large group of people not only waiting for you to do all the work and entertaining but will absolutely start slinging shit. I've seen a few lady streamers that do well but they're very much in the minority. Really so are good male streamers since its an actual skillset but you catch less overt 'SHOW US YOUR TITS BITCH' energy.
