They already tried that and failed - and even if they'd succeeded, any law they passed would be overturned by this ruling.
Anyway, you and I may know that there's no practical way of overturning this decision short of the Democrats maintaining control of the Senate after the mid-terms, then hoping that that one of Alito or Thomas either croaks or is forced to retire before 2024, allowing the appointment of a justice who'll eventually help pass Roe v. Wade 2.0. But political campaigns in this day and age aren't based on anything as gauche as practical solutions to issues, they're all about demonizing the other side and scoring as many points as possible.

Exactly this. They can't pass anything remotely controversial through Congress right now and even if they could, it would be nearly impossible to write something that would circumvent this decision. Manchin wants to be re-elected and knows that if he torpedoes the filibuster he loses the seat.

100% this was pre-planned to get people invested in the primaries after Biden's lackluster half term. The question whether that was a 5d chess made by the Dems to dangle a prize in front of retarded Conservatives or """Conservatives""" willing to never let their party win as long as Trump is alive. It's amazing how it's like we're dealing with the same topics of 40 years ago. "Don't say gay", Race Relations and now abortion. But like every modern nostalgia fad it's twisted to be a mockery of itself. "Don't say gay" is how teachers have rights to molest kids, race relations is how niggers have the right to kill you and rob a store, abortion is how we should allow infant killing after the first trimester.
But with the focus on abortion it's specifically hypocritical - "my body my choice" is only correct until the government pretty much forces you to take a barely tested vaccine with lethal side affects to keep your job.

I support overturning Roe v Wade and completely rethinking how we conceptualize the abortion issue. I think it’s a worthwhile conversation to have and could result in positive changes in the culture. We want a culture based around the celebration of family and ultimately healthy civilization. We don’t want weird murder mills run by nutjob bolsheviks dictating the direction and “tone” of our culture and social norms.
Abortion in and of itself isn’t a black and white issue. The way the (((media))) sets the conversation dilutes the rational and sane perspective. Cancelling a pregnancy should be legal while the conception is a clump of cells. It should be illegal once the clump turns into a human. If lesbian psychos and libshits can’t handle that, fuck them to hell. If Christian fundamentalists think that a one cell organism that you and your teenage sweetheart accidentally fertilized on a summer night can’t be cancelled, idk that seems retarded as fuck too. But people don’t want to say that.
Fuck roe v wade, cancel it and make leftists seethe like they ought to. To be honest, most of them never thought Roe v. Wade would get overturned. It's a very old (at this point anyway) precedent and a ton of case law comes from it. Depending on the final ruling wrt Roe, we could see a ton of other precedents like Griswold (same sex marriage) and Lawrence (gay sex) get thrown out or effectively neutered.
Then there's also the question of whether or not they can make it a law at the national level in the first place. Roe's purpose wasn't so much to 'legalize' abortion. Rather it was to make it a protected right in states that had outlawed it. Without Roe, precedent is very much on the side of the 10th Amendment protecting the rights of states to determine the legality of abortion within their own jurisdiction meaning that the federal government wouldn't really have the power to do anything about it.

I don't think unrestricted abortion is a winner of a campaign promise beyond riling up the base. consider:
despite all media messaging and roe v wade being the law of the land for a generation, polls are basically frozen since the 70s and "legal under any circumstance" is the minority. compare this to gay marriage which saw an actual reversal since getting legalized. if people are asked about late term specifically 81% of americans think it should be illegal.
republicans will prob hammer opponents to talk specifically about the parts that make ordinary people queasy.

Yeah, I think the way this will play out politically is going to depend heavily on the retardation on both sides. If the pro-choice crowd leans in on the 'MUH BODY MUH RULES NO EXCEPTIONS KILL THE BABIES NOW FOR THE UPDOOTS", then they're going to get slaughtered. If the republican legislatures in red states try to push for something along the lines of, "Well I'm sorry little Sarah but we can't do anything about the 10 week-old rapebaby your father put in you because of muh sanctity of life" then they're going to get slaughtered.
To be honest, I have no idea who'll be more retarded. Should be fun to watch.
