Harry Potter is derivative of LoTR (what fantast story isn't) but tbh it has some pretty original ideas like a magical sport played on broomsticks and plenty of magical creatures and tropes Rowling made up like using fireplaces to teleport and the idea of a secret community of wizards living alongside modern people. It's reasonably creative despite being a mediocre story, which is also ok because it's a story for children. It kept me entertained as a young teenager and the book releases were always big days in my house so there must have been something to it.

Per the brave and honest woman: he got misgendered at the grocery store then had a public freakout which was captured and uploaded and sent to him by a friend. Then he decided reddit was a good place to go to for advice. Also he's a registered sex offender.

I have never heard of Worst Witch but it seems to be an ongoing book series that started in 1974 with its latest iteration being published in 2018. It's certainly possible she was influenced by it but I don't think it's any more a shameless ripoff than like Whiterun in Skyrim being a direct visual ripoff of Rohan in Peter Jackson's LoTR.
