Its pretty great honestly. Only issue is that Vi being in prison makes pretty much zero sense and Caitlyn just releasing her without much pushback is genuinely retarded. I like that she is a fucking thug when she comes out though because that is exactly what doing a nickel in prison would do to her.

I would have just had her join the enforcers begrudgingly as she would have no other place to go as the corrupt warden could have lied and told her that she is marked for death down there while he lied to Silco that she is dead. Helps build up the corrupt warden a bit more while reinforcing the general theme of dad/daughter relationships and how family drives characters to do stupid noble things. It also gives the corrupt enforcer some much needed screen time.

It sets up that Vi is already friends with Caitlyn through that. Then she could be set up (Jinx's with the hextech heist) and sent to prison. While in prison she realizes that Jinx is alive through the heist, learns from an inmate that she isn't marked for death and using the element of surprise decides to hunt down Silco. This makes it more believable when Caitlyn breaks her out and she is jaded as fuck about the enforcers again. She also gives a shit about Silco in this version from the get go, was really strange that she didn't seem to care that much about Silco and only focused on getting Jinx back.

Just a slight change, but it makes the narrative flow far better in my opinion.

I actually like the fact that they didn't make it official between Vi and Caitlyn yet and I hope the writers will be taking their time to build it up organically and have a great payoff, because dear God one of the last things we need from Arcane is another Korrasami or Catradora fiasco. So far I'm glad they wrote Vi and Cait as gay characters rather than GAY characters, and I hope they keep it that way.

I liked it. And as expected, there's a ton of Vi x Catelyn Rule 34 already.

I find it hard to believe the show will ever go explicit with their gayness, too much China money involved.

I absolutely LOVED this show. I've not had a piece of media stick with me like this show has in a WHILE, outside of 1917 (which is also fantastic, 10/10 recommend.) The animation (it's not only gorgeous but the amount of realistic microexpressions and the movement of muscles and tendons under the skin of the characters is insane), the characters, the writing, the acting, it's all genuinely fantastic and the absolute pinnacle of what an animated show should be. The team- cast and crew both- poured their hearts and souls into this production and it shows.

My only complaint is that I think Caitlyn and Vi's relationship has been massively rushed. I think a lot of the ViCait scenes would have worked better in season two, while they just devoted this season to building up their friendship so that way their relationship has a more solid base. Vi goes from fucking HATING Pilties and ESPECIALLY enforcers to being smitten with one in like two in show days and it's really weird imo.

Another thing that is less of a complaint and more wishful thinking is that I wish we could have spent more time with the mains when they were younger. I really really loved Mylo and Claggor (the girls' brothers) and their interactions with Vi and Powder, and then baby Powder and Ekko are absolutely adorable. Vi is also really fun to see as a protective, rebellious big sister, and her relationship with Vander is sweet. I'd love to see more of that family dynamic among the whole crew, since we only saw snippets of it and during the absolute worst week of their lives to boot. Hopefully we'll see more of them in future seasons (flashbacks, maybe?) or in supplementary material, partially because I think they could give great insight into Vi, Jinx, and Ekko's characters, and also because seeing all of the kids happy and together and alive makes my serotonin go brrrr.

Slight disagreement on this point. I think there really wasn't that much relationship between Vi and Caitlyn. We don't even know if they made out, let along sleep together. We only know that there's some hinted attraction and Jinx (who is pretty perceptive) called her Vi's "girlfriend". So there's definitely chemistry and possibility but I don't feel anything was especially rushed.

To me, Arcane is one of those rare, perfect shows. I haven't seen anything this good in a long while.

If they do what I think they're going to do in introducing Warwick in season 2, there's ample opportunities for childhood flashbacks. Gut-wrenching, tragic flashbacks, probably, but the opportunity's there.

The show was much less woke (not really at all) than I expected for a show made by Netflix about a video game in 2021.

I love caitxvi but I really hope they don't go overboard with their relationship in season 2. Its nice to see a gay couple just be written like a normal couple.

So far I would say that they did a decent job with the sub plot between Vi and Caitlyn by writing them not as gay characters, but as gay characters. We'll have to wait eventually until season 2 for the conclusion, but I want to believe that the writers will do a better job in making Vi x Cait a thing than how CRWBY would (hypothetically) make Bumblebee canon.

And yes, Jinx was an absolute homerun.

At least the part around the conflict between Piltover and Zaun with the cornerstone being the relationship between Vi and Jinx. It's actually and unironically pretty good. Shockingly good even given the fact it's a Netflix series based on a MOBA.

High recommendation. Jinx is an actual loon who has a very good portrayal of what that actually looks like in a person.

The lez shit is only really bit parts in like 4 of the back end episodes and is barely even noticeable. You can also just skip over them and miss nothing if you really don't want to see that shit, which is why its still one of my major gripes with Arcane.

@Mega Black you really should, Jinx isn't just a 'HAHA I'M PSYCHO' in Arcane, in fact I'd say it's the best portrayal of mental illness I've seen in recent times and the show doesn't get preachy over it either. And the lesbian thing is so subtle you could ignore it, there is no bait and the only romantic relationship in the series so far is a straight couple.

I don’t know how much more explicit I can be without spoiling things but the two you are wary about literally never initiate a relationship in the timespan this story takes place, there is nothing to get alarmed over. If it helps, China managed to semi-believably censor the dialogue to just be sisterly friends…

Watched Arcane. And honestly, I enjoyed it. The characters I most enjoyed in this were Jinx, Catilyn, and Viktor. Silco was pretty good as well, and he had some good moments. And then you got Vi and Caitlyn, and now I'm wondering how much closer they can get without losing the China market.

While I don’t think Jinx’s “here’s to the new us” will be the line everyone brings to their acting auditions, it was still good. Jinx and Caitlyn and Viktor and Silco had some killer VAs in this.

And I've heard the animation was praised, and it is good. Although one thing I noticed is that when it does close up of characters, I'm reminded of the arcade endings from Mortal Kombat 11 with how the characters look with the way their skin comes across on the screen (or maybe that's because I watched it on my phone). Not complaining, just an observation.

And for a binge, I don't think I was bored once. Intro song was pretty good too. Overall, I'm not going to get into the main LoL game probably ever, but I'll be looking out for Season 2 when it drops, and I hope that the next go round is as good as this one.

It's refreshing to have a show that actually celebrates the concept of fatherhood. With how MEN BAD everything is now, it's good to see men being actual loving dads in media, and not the quiet cuck kind. It's part of the reason Silco was such a great character for me.
