Yes. The roll happens on button release because it's the same button for running. This wouldn't be an issue, but there's also an added delay. You will not notice it when he shows the controller on camera. His webcam is also delayed, it negates the input delay you see. The delay is a big issue when fighting bosses with fast attacks. The delay is intentional to make the games artificially harder.
