From my experience, a lot of women already are uncomfortable with it, but are too scared to actually do anything about it. Between being outed as a transphobe by peers or possibly attacked by a change room, better off just grabbing your clothes and changing in a bathroom stall.

Women I know that aren't wrapped up in social media are not trans friendly at all. I don't think 'townie' women would sit idle by, they're notoriously some banshees with little self control.

It's definitely going to go pretty far before anyone does anything about it. It's extremely fustrating feeling comfortable anywhere more private.
I do feel confident that enough men shed light on the issue though, and knowing that at least they don't let it fly.

First, you gotta take in account that transpeople are a fridge minority, so you don't necessary run into them a lot if you are not interested. A lot of critics are countered that way " well, there's so few of them, you can always make an exception...." if you don't dig a little you will miss on the potential issues.
Second there's a well-oiled propaganda machine. Some women have been convinced that they already have so many privileges that they need to make way to trans people. If there's more rapes in jail, so what, it allows some people to feel better about their genders and that's the more important thing. If there's no more female athletes on the podiums because it becomes a winning strategy to recruit troons, so what? Ciswomen have so much privileges they can give up having a sport category....
Third: if you ask questions you are transphobic, if you are transphobic you are a monster, if you are a monster you deserve everybody to turn away from you. People have their reputation to protect.
The discourse has penetrated everywhere. A male Boomer in my entourage who i know for a fact is not enlightened, he is nice and well-meaning but reasonably homophobic, is somewhat convinced that you can "be born in the wrong body". It's not the trendy way to talk about it, activists those days don't like that phrase because it implies trans bodies are wrong yadayada .... but it's the start of an idea that allow average joes to be convinced a kind of cosmic injustice as been inflicted on transpeople that needs to be corrected.

In the second one, it was fascinating to see the girls laugh in delighted shock when they turned the filter off and saw their natural faces again. I was thinking "boy, troons wouldn't react like that. They'd feel betrayed and horrified that their false identity was ripped away from them." And then it got to the last girl, who looked sulky when her filter vanished... and she was the only one just lounging around in full-face Instagram makeup like a fucking Kardashian.
Constructed identities are never healthy.
