US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

only because you can fuck with illiterate villagers when the elites are on your side with less obvious bloodshed than you can replace an entire power structure when the elites know they have to resist you or be murdered. the US has nothing to be proud of in Latin America.
And Russia hasn't pulled that sort of shit? Go take a look at who was tossing AKM's at every guerilla movement in Africa. Sure as hell wasn't the CIA. Oh, and who was shipping arms and advisors to Ho Chi Minh so he could overthrow the French during the Cold War. Or shooting down US pilots in Korea while claiming neutrality. Quit acting like the US is the only nation with blood on its hands here.
The Monroe Doctrine still is a thing with the last US president's State Department using it and citing it in its sanctions on Venezuela. The current administration hasn't lifted said sanctions. It's still a thing.

China having a better spy ring + playing the economic investment game better than the US doesn't change that. They own 60%+ of the world's precious metals sources iirc. Africa will be speaking Mandarin by 2040 without a doubt.

None of this changes my point that people acting as if Russia having a hard red line on the Ukraine joining Nato is unreasonable is dumb.
Except Ukraine isn't in NATO and that's not really been a priority due to distance? I mean, why bother when Ukraine has an ironclad security agreement with Russia? Oh...

You guys need to quit claiming the Russians were all gud bois who dindu nuffin.
This. And the current criticism about getting involved in Ukraine has nothing to do with "Putin's a good boi he dindu nuffin" and everything to do with the simple wisdom of "you do not start shit right in another great power's back yard."
Since when did the US start shit there? I mean, aside from all the dirty money our politicians have, Obama telling Putin he'll be more flexible after the election, etc. For all the pot-stirring we did with the Euromaidan stuff things were already at the tipping point. Do you people not remember when a bunch of totally-not-Russian soldiers appeared out of thin air in Eastern Ukraine and started handing out Russian passports to the locals? Its typically considered a major diplomatic faux paux to invade people you're guaranteeing.

Where the fuck were you people when Obama was shipping half-expired MRE's and beat-up surplus Humvees to Ukraine? Where were you when Trump was shipping over Javelins? But all of a sudden we get a senile old fool in the Oval Office who says Putin can go do a minor little incursion into Ukraine and we'll set up a committee to talk about the response and you people start going "Russia is perfectly justified sending tanks into Kiev".

I have been entirely consistent in saying throughout the Russians are perfectly justified sending tanks into Kiev, and also herding all Ukranians into camps where they are forced at gunpoint to wear adorable little potato costumes and listen to YMCA on endless repeat as just penance for their embrace of globohomo

Aside from not letting Father Time take the credit, which is easier and safer, Biden's death wouldn't unify the country and certainly wouldn't fix all the problems this administration currently has. Harris inherits the supply chain crisis, the Ukraine crisis, the border crisis (she has it anyways, but it becomes even more of her responsibility), the gas shortage crisis, and the COVID crisis. These problems are either so systemically complicated that a regime change can't be fixed or their legitimacy of their rule is contingent on its existence.

1) COVID is necessary for Dem base states like NY and CA governors, so it's existence must perpetuate. Even if the administration wants COVID to go away, Newsom and Hochul don't want it to, so it continues to exist.
2) Russia still remains a threat to the Ukraine because they need more territory to defend their extremely vulnerable capital. At the same time, the US military has lost its credibility after Afghanistan and even dumb generals like Milley have to be aware that a blitzkrieg campaign that takes out Russian assets might not knock them out decisively.
3) The Dems need to have an open border for demographic replacement every 18 years. The fact that cartels use it to traffic marijuana is a non-issue to them, but definitely an issue to affected states who now have Cartel weed plantations in their own backyard and solidifying organized crime, which affects state governance.
4) I'm not a trucker, so I can't explain the supply chain crisis other than that no one wants to work at the pay they receive.

Patriotic fever can't catch on because the people that are supposed to spread it are the Left, and they hate America. Harris is still stuck with the only lever this administration has; deputize the Nat'l Guard for labor shortages and that's not enough for 9/11 measures that they want to do.

MovieBob.
I think that you are underestimating the amount of political hay that could be made from the first US presidential assassination in over 50 years. The whole thing would be a production, caught in 4k with a scripted media blitz. They would agonize over it for months. Everyone who ever said Fuck Joe Biden would be seen as somewhere between irresponsible and genuinely treasonous. All other considerations would be buried, at least for the midterms. And what's the downside? They no longer have a guinea pig to test dementia meds on while he slips away into a living death? But I'll address your points individually.

1) COVID is necessary, because they don't have the authority to maintain draconian control over their populations. How does TERROR ALERT DOUBLE RED and the new Patriot Act power grab not offer a permanent solution to an emergency powers problem from an emergency that seems to be solving itself? The bill would just need to couch absentee/mail in voting as a safety priority to give them what they want.
2) Do you actually believe that Russia is going to play games in eastern Ukraine right after a US president gets whacked in public? Kamala would cherish the opportunity to show how STRONK she is.
3) They're doing a fantastic job of ignoring the border now, and I'm pretty sure that a "National Tragedy" will only help. Not sure what your point is here.
4) The economy is a confidence game, to some extent. People aren't entirely mercenary. They want to think that what they're doing matters. If they can play it right, an event like this would offer the sort of unity that Dem's have been pushing for, namely the unity where Trump/populist types apologize for existing, admit that maybe they got carried away and go back to doing what they're told and getting what scraps they're allowed. We'll call this a "sobering effect" and it should help get people back to work, especially with the end of a no-longer-necessary CoV pandemic.

And hell, the CIA might be psyched to do it after the way Biden dogfucked their credibility by abandoning their assets in Afghanistan.

The saddest thing is, even in Biden's late stage dementia he still has a higher vocabulary than Trump. Sad!

Well done Xprime, you broke him.

On a more serious note I cannot for the life of me figure out why Sinema voted with Manchin on the filibuster. I'm glad she did I just can't figure out why. Does anyone have any knowledge or thoughts on this?

Honestly it can be as simple as spite. Especially after that shit where protesters invaded the bathroom she's in (and the not so implicit suggestion that the DNC allowed these clowns to do so in the first place). I think anyone would vote to block the DNC agenda after that, purely to spite the shithead who even allowed this.

More seriously, as Gehenna said some pages back, both Sinema and Manchin are the current face of the moderate bloc of Democrat senators. She voted no together with Manchin so that the others don't need to. And since her political career in AZ at least is probably toast either way, the current administration has no leverage on her.

Are you Ukranian? Cuz you sound way too invested in this. So invested you don't realize you just made a pro-Russian invasion of Ukraine argument to "own" people on kiwi farms.

Ignoring for a second that you joined in 2019 so wouldn't know what anyone on here was saying when Obama + Trump were sending stuff to Ukraine, if for the last 12+ years your primary rival has been sending military equipment to your border and you are finally in a position to cut that shit out, you do it. The fact that there is a senile dementia patient only makes it more important because you don't know if 1) He'll try something in one of his moments or 2) more likely his handlers will try it.

Maybe you aren't aware, since you're not American, but the absolutely greatest thing Trump did as president was not go to war with Russia. If Hillary had won thats exactly what she would have done. They were building up to it throughout the end of Obama's presidency and during her campaign. The USA would have gone to war with Russia if Clinton had won. Now the same people who wanted that war are in charge of the USA again so yes, it is appropriate for Russia to approach things the way they are from their perspective.

If you are Ukranian it sucks balls to be a pawn in geopolitics. On the otherhand as a country you probably shouldn't have been working so hard to get in bed with globohomo. I sincerely doubt Russia, with Putin in charge, wants to add all the dead weight Russia got out under once the USSR dissolved. He could have done so already and hasn't. It has nothing to do with Putin being a dindu and everything with knowing not to piss in someone else's yard.

Washington and a few other states with useless GOPs out there are joining in.

In deeply red states with rump-sized blue parties, the Democrats still worm their way into the state government and control the schools, the department of health, whatever environmental review/permitting board there is, and the university system.

In states that are D+5, the Republicans control absolutely nothing whatsoever. They are truly the worst political party since the Whigs.

These people unironically worship Trump and they're literally incapable of handling any criticism about him. You have to remember, this guy was a big part of their personal identity for four years, and without him they're practically nothing as human beings. That's why they have to portray anyone that thinks even a tepid thought about Trump as being some unreasonable, irrational maniac. It goes beyond party politics and nearly into cult territory, because Trump is the great hope for Western civilization in their minds, and if you oppose anything that paragon does... well, you're cucked, bro, because they have a whole bunch of jargon to call you that you're supposed to feel embarrassed about.

Since Donald Trump is such a central thing in their lives, they naturally go on to assume that anyone that would voice a thought about Donald Trump likewise obsesses over him day in, day out. But you can just go through someone's posting history and see who really gets worked up over Trump and talks about him all day long.

The Vietnam War ended 50 years ago, dude. Putting missiles in the Ukraine as payback for a Communist government that doesn't exist anymore backing a Communist government that we're on peaceful terms with now is retarded. International diplomacy isn't supposed to have the same dynamics as schoolyard fights.

Since when did the US start shit there?

There was a US-backed coup in Ukraine in 2013.

Where the fuck were you people when Obama was shipping half-expired MRE's and beat-up surplus Humvees to Ukraine? Where were you when Trump was shipping over Javelins? I was disappointed every time Trump rattled sabers in a pointless direction, both Ukraine and Syria. At least we avoided the full-on invasion of Syria that the media was trying to hoax us into in 2015, but it could have been better. Now take Bill Kristol's balls out of your mouth and explain what compelling interests the USA has with going to war with Russia over Ukraine.

"Russia is bad" is not a valid argument here. "Russia is mean to Ukraine" is not a valid argument here." This isn't 2002; getting some chinless neocon to hector me about all the evil in the world America can stop with Predator drones isn't going to work this time. Explain why it's in our interest to go to war with Russia over Ukraine. Explain why it directly affects me, as an American, whether Ukraine's oligarchy can hold onto its territory.

Wow, thanks for cutting through all the bullshit! Now I understand the situation perfectly!

I'm sure there are some people in this thread like that. Not everyone here is like that though. But, to put it in laymans terms, despite all his faults and flaws, the establishment and the mainstream media have been trying to nail Trumps ass to the wall since 2015, and it's been revealed that it's been nothing more than lie after lie. Which ironically in a sense, makes this particular billionaire and his policies anti-establishment.

That's probably the simplest way to explain why many people continue to support Trump.

The Biden family’s personal interests. Or maybe it’s because the US shouldn’t tolerate authoritarian schizo states invading friendly European nations. Or we can flip the mug NATO the other way and say because then Russia will be putting military bases next to strong US Allie’s.

You want to impress me? meme an actual point.

the less words the better.

In other news, Obama's former director of global engagement just put biden under the bus.

I'll be honest, I don't really care either way about Ukraine. Biden just said something really dumb and that's the reason to comment on it in, y'know, the Biden News Thread.

But you know, just keep commenting on that one guy.
.. Trump.. Trump... Trump.. Donald Trump.. Donald Trump.. Trump..
