Sports is a big thing. I think it's harder to mainstream the other controversies because they are limited to academic activists or prisoners, which a lot of people don't interact with on a daily basis. Even bathrooms are hard to fathom because we want that aspect of our lives to be private, so there's faint embarrassment about bringing it up, pressing as it is.

Sports are a beloved spectacle that everyone has participated in, in some way. They can also be lucrative and give plenty of people purpose, as both athletes and spectators. Unlike bathrooms, we have constant news coverage already and an ecosystem that dissects stats and predictions and players down to the high school level. There is no way people won't talk about it, and no way people can assume it's not their problem. So for that reason alone, I think you can be optimistic that it will be the best chance at turning the tide.

If you take the rules of fair play out of a sport, what do you have? The troon issue in sports cuts to the very core of what people who care about sports care about. True, men don’t care about women’s sports (not many women do either), but men respond strongly to the idea of rules being broken and unfair shit happening in sports. They just do. That doesn’t mean some men don’t delight in the idea of girls and women being destroyed by troons, but even they still recognize the profound *unsporting nature* of it all. They just think women bought it and thus can sit there and eat it.

Men who are unsportsmanlike simply cannot be trusted. They lack honor.

Do any of these people who talk about intersex individuals actually know anything about the condition? They're not unicorns - it's a physical disorder that can bring a lot of suffering if it's severe.

Imagine having genitalia that appear 'ambiguous' - how demoralizing that would be for a sane, rational person. You can do the Google image searches yourself. The disorder can also render you impotent or infertile. So not only do you have to suffer with abnormal genitalia, but you also can lose the prospect of having children or a sex life. To treat these people that are suffering as some sort of ace card to support your ideology is infuriating. They're not living the dream.

I still remember the time I got called transphobic for saying that being intersex is a genetic disorder.

They always talk about what a biologist would say, but I don't think they've actually met people who studied bio. Anything that prevents an organism from reproducing is a deleterious gene or mutation or even defect. Biology really doesn't care about individuals, it cares about populations.

Expecting a biologist to redefine sex as a spectrum is like asking them to define mules as a species, it only matters if it can reproduce and anything else is biologically unfit. Also biology does things like naming things alpha and beta males, not just calling it a spectrum like they want.

Beyond that, it should pretty much always just be mixed rather than just men's - if a woman can compete alongside men, she's the one choosing to do it and she's the one at a disadvantage so all power to them.
