Yeah, they exist. Hollow points are very useful for self defense, and many people employ ARs for home defense, so naturally there's a decent market for them.

I'm a hair dye chameleon and I still respect the right for 2A. That said, conservative leaning areas also respect 2A. There are also 2A respecting libs and their stance leans towards self-defense only rather than as a tool and self-defense. You're spot on with women also being okay with guns. It is a common sentiment in "women only" spaces to carry either a gun or mace in your "necessities." Though most I've talked with (and I guess myself) would rather go concealed carry. You can't fit an AR-15 in a reasonably sized purse and a pistol is a lot easier to prevent from being grabbed.
the exist. used for hunting. the military has hollow point 5.56 because it improves accuracy in their marksman rifles. they are not cosidered hollow points under the rules of war because the hollow point is to increase accuracy not increase wounding potential (tho it does that too.)

As others have pointed out, they exist but they're fairly rare compared to standard FMJ rounds. I don't think I've ever seen them on shelves at retail, the closest I've found at places like Academy are the frangible tip rounds which are specifically marketed as "varmint" rounds.
Military OTM (open tip match )sniper ammunition are hollow points. it actually increases accuarcy.
I mean an AR is a rifle round and while it does go in and out the varmint caliber is notorious for tumbling as soon as it penetrates. But in a situation both are equally dangerous. Gage should be thankful he only lost a bit of his bicep and not have a .223 get lodged or worse rip his entire arm off. Had Kyle's aim been 2cms gage would not have a right arm.
There are 5.56 hollow points, but from what I understand they're usually made for accuracy and long range terminal ballistics, not necessarily expansion. Look at "Open Tip Match"
They exist but they don't seem to be super common. Soft points seem to be the usual duty round in police use.
