I am actually kind of fascinated with how little trust you guys have in his defense when they have done a quite good job so far for all I can tell.

One thing that makes this so agonizing is that there's no way of knowing whether this is an intelligent move conceived by the Defense with a major revelation in store, or if Kyle is such a naive good boy that he believes it's his duty to testify despite the risks.

My opinion still stands. There were holes that needed to be filled and Kyle is doing so by providing more insight into his mindset, his reason for being there, and who he is outside of this incident.

It's hugely risky, but if they do this correctly it could pay off.

Remember that Grosskreutz sounded really good and sympathetic on direct but got annihilated by gotchas on cross. Personally, I find Kyle to sound more genuine and unrehearsed, but if the prosecution gets to play the unfavorable videos, then it is over.

the rule of thumb is to not have the defendent testify whenever possible.

By rarely objecting, never arguing against the prosecution's objections, and putting Kyle on the stand they're trying to seem laid back and like they have nothing to hide, this is a very risky and stupid tactic. If Kyle wins it's because it was a shitty case for the prosecution, not because of his stellar defense.

It literally is. I know prosecutors tend to be shit but this is exceptionally shit. This case is only being tried for political reasons.

1. It's been proven that he was slow with his trigger, only pulling it when he was actively threatened and attacked, which is a good thing.

2. Being equally slow with his words will also be a good thing if he can keep it up under cross -- carefully considering his testimony, not blurting shit out, waiting for possible objections before answering, pacing his responses, speaking with deliberation, that will work in his favor IF he can keep it up.
