How many rounds of interviews did this person have to go through with the Catholics to figure out that they were Catholics?

To be moderately fair, the OP does say he had no idea the hospital was Catholic until he got the job offer, so it's not like he applied for the job knowing he was applying to a Catholic hospital. Should've done his homework, but I can see where that could happen, especially if you're applying to loads of different places.

However, I don't understand how this guy is surprised that some places don't offer trans shit on their insurance. It's all elective, completely medically unnecessary business that shouldn't be covered anyway and it's deeply hypocritical since they don't offer elective, medically unnecessary plastic surgeries and whatnot on insurance for anyone else. Shit, women often have trouble getting insurance to cover medically necessary plastic surgeries, like women who need breast reductions because of serious back problems and pain.

It's incredibly nasty and gross of him also to compare men getting their facial bones shaved down or getting their "titty skittles" to women being barred from accessing necessary, often life-saving medical care, though. Lest we forget that abortion is sometimes a matter of saving the woman's life, and many women suffer serious medical conditions that hormonal contraceptives can treat. Catholic hospitals typically do not see any nuance on these issues and so their insurance is unlikely to either.

Hmm, the phrasing gave me the impression that he did not know how religious organizations were exempt from covering trans healthcare and so on, but you may be right. They may, but Catholic hospitals are an entirely different animal from the Catholic church. There are lots of (legit) stories out there of women being turned away from Catholic hospitals because they needed an abortion and would die if they didn't have one. Even women whose fetuses were already dead and needed to be removed before the woman got a serious infection, etc. have been told to find another hospital because they consider it an "abortion". There are also numerous stories of Catholic hospitals allowing women to die rather than perform a life-saving abortion because they prioritize the life of the fetus over the life of the mother. And so on.

It's genuinely not just a guy wanting to be offended by something, it's a legitimate and serious problem, especially because Catholic hospitals are so numerous and in many parts of the country may be the only accessible hospital.

That said, this is about the insurance they give their employees, not the hospital services themselves. I can't know for certain obviously, but I would take a guess that the hospital insurance policy of not covering abortions would likely decline to cover medically necessary abortions too.
